Merry Christmas Guys,

We are back again today to bring you the updates on the latest in football this festive season.

The fixtures for this Christmas were really packed, having roughly 8 Gameweeks in one month instead of the usual 4. It is rather unfortunate that the majority of the games have been postponed due to the surge in cases of the Omicron Variant of the Coronavirus across Europe. So far, it is only four(4) teams whose matches have not been postponed, namely;

  • Manchester City
  • Chelsea
  • Arsenal
  • Newcastle United.

This Gameweek, a big majority of the teams played their fixtures. 7 out of the 10 matches were played, and the rest were postponed. These postponements would come back to affect the teams because the fixtures would have to be rescheduled somewhere along the line during the season; causing the teams to play more games within a short period of time. The League authorities are yet to reschedule these postponed games. This would work out the teams and players, causing fatigue and injuries with the players. It is during this period that we would truly see the efficiency of coaches, their rotations and the fittest players.

The Gameweek 19 fixtures were fun-filled and goals packed, this is how the fixtures resulted.

  • West Ham 2 : 3 Southampton
  • Norwich City 0 : 5 Arsenal
  • Man. City 6 : 3 Leicester
  • Tottenham 3 : 0 Crystal Palace
  • Aston Villa 1 : 3 Chelsea
  • Brighton 2 : 0 Brentford
  • Newcastle 1 : 1 Man. United
  • Liverpool vs Leeds (Postponed)
  • Wolverhampton vs Watford (Postponed)
  • Burnley vs Everton (Postponed)

Arsenal, Tottenham, Brighton and Manchester City sailed gloriously to victory; even though Leicester City tried to prove themselves but Manchester City made their efforts look weightless. Southampton on the other hand managed to win their match against West Ham in a 5 goal thriller. Manchester United really struggled to salvage a draw in the hands of Newcastle; when Edinson Cavani came to their rescue with a goal in the 71st minute. What a thrilling gameweek!
