MATCH REVIEW: PORTUGAL VS GERMANY

Today we experienced quite an epic football match in the history of football. Portugal and Germany played their second match of the competition this evening. Germany almost took the lead when Robin Gosens scored a stunner in the early minutes of the game. Unfortunately, it was ruled offside by the Video Assistant Referee(VAR). Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo netted the first goal of the game in the 15th minute, assissted by Diogo Jota.

It looked as though Portugal were going to win the match with the way they played but Germany had other plans. Germany played so well to create two own-goals scored by unlucky Ruben Dias and Ralphael Guerreiro in a space of 4 minutes. After some serious and continuous attacking, until Portugal's defense finally budged. Kai Havertz and Robin Gosens were able to register two goals in the second half. Ronaldo returned the assist by recovering an incredible ball and passing to Diogo Jota, who then added one to Portugal's tally. The game ended after several tries and attacks from both teams, threatening ones especially from Portugal.

In my opinion, Cristiano Ronaldo and Diogo Jota had quite a game because everything was centered around them. On the other hand, Robin Gosens was exceptionally brilliant. He had made a lot of attacking runs, defensive interceptions and decisive passes although he played in the Left-back position. He was literally everywhere. He scored two beautiful goals, of which one was disallowed, and gave an assist. Kai Havertz and Joshua Kimmich were equally spectacular, as they both contributed immensely and were influential to the Germany win.

Germany are to face Hungary in their next match and Portugal are set to face the indomitable France. These matches are very crucial because the team that loses their match may not qualify. This is what their Group table look like. GROUP F

The Group is very tough and has a lot of tension, as France drew with Hungary in their recent match. Hungary are still in the qualification race, though they have only one(1), it's not over for them. Each one of them need to win their subsequent games to be able to qualify for the Round of 16.
