Players and staff conducted lateral-flow testing twice a week before the Omicron model arrived in the UK. The high increase in positive instances can be attributed to both increased testing and the new variation.
The premier league has put emergency precautions which include wearing masks in doors, social separation, and limiting treatment time. According to them everyone's safety is a top priority and that is why those measures are required, and the Premier League is taking all necessary precautions in reaction to the Omicron form of Covid-19, they said in a statement that is to prevent it coming on the field.
The league will continue to engage with clubs to keep people safe by assisting them in mitigating the hazards of Covid-19 among their squads, the league said. We're also in close contact with the government, local governments, and supporting groups, and we're ready to respond to any future changes to national or local guidance says the board.
