This week's contest is truly a good one and I will want to drop my own participation now.

Unforgettable world cup match

I am a Nigerian, and I will be writing on a very important winning match for Nigeria.
My unforgettable world cup match was the game between Nigeria and Iceland in the 2018 Russian world cup.

It was amazing, sounds and noises from all over the country. The day Nigeria won against Iceland with a 2-0 defeat in the Volgograd Arena, Volgograd, Russia 2018.

First, when we saw the fixture, it was like a walkover for Iceland, so we thought. We the supporters lost all hopes completely.

But the actual day came, Nigeria vs Iceland.

One thing I normally says is that Nigeria is not good when it come to international matches. A lot of talented players in the squad, but need more time to develop and bring out the best in them.

The Nigerian super eagles weren't that prepared for the 2018 world up, but they will be a force to be reckoned with in the near future.

When the game started the tensions were high. They got to play Nigeria very fast within some minutes. They played very well. At that point (3-5 minutes) of the opening minutes, we began to whisper to each other that this match won't end well.

At that moment Nigeria got the ball, the game was balanced and they played with outmost orderliness. It was like they new they were going to win, so no need to play like they were forced.

At bout the 49th minutes, Nigeria's Victor Moses gave a wonderful cross ball and Ahmed Musa made a beautiful control before fixing the ball to the bottom of the net. It was a goal!!!!!! We all shouted.

That was Musa's third world cup goal for Nigeria, the other two he deposited against Argentina in the 2014 world cup match.

The same tempo and same play. At about the 75th minutes again, another run for Musa as he grabbed the ball with his leg for a flash run with e Iceland defenders.

He did a nice break, leaving Halldorsson on the ground before scoring the goal with his right foot. Another goal for Nigeria and it seems over. It's a win!!!!

But before the end of the game, Iceland got a penalty when Alfred Finnbodvarsson was taken down in the box. The referee refused to give a penalty until he watched the VAR monitor to confirm it, which he did.

Our breathes were seized. We wanted to know what's going to happen. It's gonna be a goal for Iceland, that was what everybody were saying.

Unluckily for Iceland, Gylfi Sigurdsson missed the penalty and threw Iceland into complete list of hope.

The match ended a 2-0 win for Nigeria.

The second half tactics was good for Nigeria, how they were able to undertake fast counters. But Iceland on the other hand couldn't play with certainty again.

What makes that match most unforgettable for Nigerians was the fact that after they won that match, every single Nigerian registered on MTN telecommunication were given 1minute free call for the victory.

It was amazing how MTN supported more than 200 million persons because of a win against Iceland, that was a huge encouragement.
