The English Premier League action went down really nice on Sunday, the matches had lots of suspense attached especially the one that went down at the Emirate Stadium in London. The League will be concluded soon and teams are trying hard to end up in good spots (some teams are struggling to play in the next season's Uefa Competition while some are struggling to keep off from the relegation zone).
We only saw two matches today due to the fact matches went down on Saturday in the Premier League.
Arsenal vs Fulham
We were expecting the Arsenal squad to have a difficult time against their opponent earlier today due to their participation in the Europa League, we saw the London team travel away from England to play the second leg of the quarter-final encounter against Slavia Praha on Thursday night.
They were able to get a sound victory that sent them straight into the semi-final of the competition, the stress encountered by teams who play the weekdays matches really affected them and that is why it takes a good coach to manage such teams properly so that they can be productive in all competition.
Playing against Fulham was expected to be a tough one even though it is not usually like that but the visitors are under the pressure of relegating from the league and they are taking every match very seriously. Fulham coming into the match with so much determination is enough to make Arsenal worried but they stood strong despite showing some weakness in the match.
The first half ended in a draw with none of the teams finding the net, Daniel Ceballos's goal in the 41st minute was ruled offside after consulting the VAR. The goal would have made the home team played with so much relief but it was the other way round.
The second half started with both sides struggling to find the back of the net and Fulham got the first opportunity immediately Gabriel tripped Mario Lemina in the Arsenal box. The penalty was taken by Josh Maja, the Fulham forward didn't hesitate to find the net from the spot-kick. Arsenal pressed on throughout the match but couldn't get a goal till the forty- five minutes of the second half was up.
Fortunately for Arsenal, seven-minute additional time was added to the match which gave Arsenal the hope of getting something out of the match. They became very persistent in the face of goal which finally paid off in the last minute of the additional time.
Edward Nketiah was right in the position to tip a rebound which ended at the back of the net.
both sides shared the point at the end of 90 minutes.
Arsenal now sit in the 9th position on the English Premier League table, finishing among the top six might seem impossible but they still have the opportunity of playing in the next year Europa League if they go on to win the competition.
Manchester United vs Burnley
United could have been having the same issue just like Arsenal but the level of both team current form and quality is far different from each other and their position in the league is proof.
Manchester United currently sits second behind Manchester City in the league with eight points difference which I feel is enough to decide the league winners but these days we see lots of surprises in the league.
Thrashing Burnley seems impossible for Manchester United until the match was about going to an end and I am sure the match results before the 80th minutes would have created lots of concern for the coach and the fans.
It ended a draw at half-time and this made us anticipated for lots of action in the second half which both teams gave us.
Mason Greenwood opened the scoreline with a perfect strike for United, the United forward has been very consistent in scoring goals for the team but the celebration was cut short when the visitors got an equalizer just two minutes after United got the lead in the encounter.
While both teams were searching for a goal, United dominated so much but wasn't getting the goals. The struggles went on and on until the 84th minute when Mason Mount got United second for the evening, the goal made it his second as well in the match.
Edison Cavani came in as a substitute to replace Fred, the forward sealed United victory with a nice touch on the ball sent from Donny Van de Beek who also came in as a substitute.
The result keeps both sides in the position they were before the match and this makes Burnley continue their struggles to avoid dropping back into the relegation zone.
