in hive-130734 •  3 years ago

The transfer window for European teams was officially opened on the 1st of June 2021, one month after the climax of the 2020/21 season. However little attention has been given to the transfers going on across Europe due to the just ended European championship and Copa America tournament which saw Italy and Argentina crowned champions respectively.

Now that these tournaments are over we switch our attention to the upcoming 2021/22 season and we can’t do this without looking at some of the transfer activities going on at some of the big clubs in Europe.
Some of these teams are very busy on the market and here we take a look at some the deals that have been completed by the top clubs in Europe.

1. Jadon Sancho - Dortmund to Manchester United(£73M)

United have finally landed their main target after a series of transfer rumors linking him to the Red Devils for the past two years. Manchester United have been an admirer of Sancho since 2019 when he started showing glimpses of his brilliance at Dortmund. The highly rated youngster is undoubtedly one of the best young footballers in the world at the moment, if not the best and his move will in no doubt strengthen the Manchester United team for the upcoming season.

United paid 73 million pounds for the services of Sancho which is quite impressive considering Dortmund were requesting for £105M in the last transfer window for their priced asset. The deal is almost done and only some paper works remaining and united are expected to announce it this week.

Manchester United are not than yet in the transfer market.
According to reports they are closing on a €50M deal for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane. This will strengthen their defense which was one of their major weaknesses in the previous season.
They’re linked with a host of other players but we’re still monitoring and will update you when any concrete comes up.

2. Ibrahima Konate - Rb Leipzig to Liverpool (£40)

Liverpool football club went through a lot of defensive crisis last season. They played most of last season with all their senior center backs injured and it affected them brutally, especially with the injury of their talisman Virgil Van Dijk. VVD had a tear in his ACL in their derby match against Everton at Goodison park last September after a nasty collision with Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. That ruled him out of the season and Liverpool never copped without him and therefore they struggled in attempt to defend the title they won two seasons ago.

Liverpool therefore responded very quickly after the season, when they paid 40 Million pounds to Leipzig for French youngster Ibrahima Konate. The 21-year old has been very instrumental at the back for Leipzig in the previous season and he’s a player that has massive potential to succeed at Liverpool.

Konate had his debut for Liverpool today in a pre-season game against VFB Stuttgart which ended in a 1:1 draw. He had a decent game and Manager Jurgen Klopp said after the game that Konate is in good shape and looking good for the upcoming season.

Liverpool are also in the hunt for a midfielder to replace Georgino Wijnaldum who left for psg on a free transfer. Several names have been linked to them recently some of which include Saul Niguez of Athletico Madrid, Leicester midfielder Tielimans, Renato Sanches among others. The most likely to happen among these romours is Saul who is pushing very hard to leave ATM to try himself in other leagues.

3. Memphis Depay - Olympic Lyonnaise to FC Barcelona ( Free Transfer)

The highly rated Dutch man has moved to Barcelona from Lyon on a free transfer after five years with the French club. Depay signed for the Catalan club at the end of last season, before joining his colleagues in the Netherlands national team to participate in the just ended Euros.

Memphis had a very good stint at Olympic Lyon after he joined them from Manchester United some five years ago. He was regarded as a big flop at United after he failed to live up to expectations at the red side of Manchester though he joined them with huge potential.
Depay then joined Lyon and since had his career rejuvenated as he has been the main man for them in the past five seasons and also leading them back to champions league football after some absence. He led them to as far as the champions league semi finals two years ago but they lost to eventual winners Bayern Munich.
His move to Barcelona means we finally expect to see Depay shine for a big club after his failed stint at Manchester United.

4. David Alaba - Bayern Munich to Real Madrid ( Free Transfer)

David Alaba finally left Bayern Munich after 12 years at Bayern Munich. He won multiple trophies with the Bavarians and enjoyed so much success with them. He run out his contract last season and has henceforth decided to sign for Spanish giants Real Madrid just before the start of the European championship. The Austrian had a very decent tournament though the were knocked out by the eventual champions Italy.

Alaba is a very versatile player who has played in several positions including center back, left back and midfield for Bayern and the Austria national team. With the departure of Sergio Ramos to PSG and possible exit of Raphael Varane, who is expected to sign for Manchester United, Alaba is expected to be deployed at the center back position by returning coach Carlo Ancelotti.
He traveled today to Madrid to join his teammates for the preseason after his holidays ended yesterday. We wish him all the best in his new unfamiliar team.

5. Sergio Ramos - Real Madrid to Paris Saint German ( Free Transfer)

Sergio Ramos’ move to PSG from Real Madrid has to be one of the most shocking transfers in recent years. The former Real Madrid captain has been with the club for 16 years since he joined from Sevilla in 2005. He has been very influential for Real since then and very recently captained them to win three consecutive Champions league trophies. He decided to leave this summer when president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez refused to offer him a three year contract renewal that Ramos demanded. This led to a disagreement between the president and Ramos and their captain had to quit to ply his trade in a new destination.

Ramos has joined a lot of new players that PSG have signed in this summer transfer window. The likes of Donnarruma who just won the Euros with Italy, Wijnaldum and Achraf Hakimi have all joined Paris saint German this window.
With this strong team they’ll be looking to end their long drought of not winning the champions league for a very long time especially with Neymar and Mbappe all poised to stay.
