My Favorite League In Football: La Liga

My favorite league is Spanish La Liga also known as the Primera Division and officially known as Laliga Santander, was founded in the year 1929 and is been governed by the Liga Nacional de Futbal Profesional.

La Liga is played by 20 teams in a particular season, which lasts from August-May, each team in the league plays every other teams twice home and away, making it a total of 38 matches for each team. Teams recieve 3points for a win and 1point each for a draw regardless of the number of goals scored in that match. The club with the highest points are crowned champions at the end of the season. In situations where 2 teams have the highest points at the end of the season, the champions is determined using the head-to-head point rules and the head-to-head goal difference rule

The top 4 teams in La Liga Santander at the end of each season qualifies for the following season's UEFA Champions League group stage while the 5th place team and the Copa del Rey winners qualifies for the subsequent season's UEFA Europa League. If two La Liga teams wins the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League respectively, they also get automatic qualification for the subsequent season's UEFA Champions League group stage. The 3 bottom teams in Laliga ( i.e the 18th, 19th and 20th placed teams) at the end of the season are relegated to the Segunda Division while the top 2 teams from the Segunda Division are promoted to La Liga .

The Primera Division has been ranked first over the decade in the UEFA rankings of the European leagues due to their performances in European competitions over the decade, ahead of the English Premier League, German Bundeliga and Italian Serie A ranked 4th. Since 1997, La Liga was the first League to do the European double with Barcelona and Sevilla winning the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League respectively during the 2005-2006 season. This also repeated in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018 with Barcelona winning the UEFA Champions League in 2014 and Real Madrid winning the UEFA Champions League for 3 consecutive seasons ( 2016, 2017 and 2018) during these period, Sevilla won the UEFA Europa league in 2014, 2015 and 2016 while Athletico Madrid winning it in 2018.

I prefer La Liga because, La Liga has the best football clubs in the world, the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Athletico Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla and many more, reasons being that; La Liga clubs have won the highest number of UEFA Champions League for 18 times with Real Madrid winning the trophy for 13times and Barcelona winning it for 5 times, La Liga teams have won the highest number of UEFA Europa League winning the trophy for 13 times, they have won the highest number of UEFA Super Cup with a record win of 15 trophies and also have the highest number of Fifa Club World Cup winning 7 trophies.

La Liga also produce the best players as it's players have won the highest number of Ballon d'Or awards.

Most importantly, i prefer La Liga because i am a big fan of Real Madrid. I admire madrid style of play, Madrid mixes the tiki tacker with the counter-attacking style of play when neccesary. I have always wished to see a live football match at the Santiago Bernabeu some day especially the El Classico. I am always happy to be a Madridista regardless of the current situation of the team. I always believe that next season will be great, Hala Madrid!.
