Hello everyone,

I will be sharing with you today an incidence that happened at old Trafford in a game between Manchester United and Everton.

In the game that ended 1:1 , Andros Townsend imitated Cristiano Ronaldo's signature celebration after scoring against Manchester United and he claims it was done as a tribute.

Andros Townsend insists that his goal celebration during Everton's 1-1 draw with Manchester United was not mockery, but rather a show of respect for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Toffees earned a point at Old Trafford thanks to Townsend's second-half equalizer.

In the 65th minute, the winger completed a quick counter by latching onto Abdoulaye Doucoure's pass and drilling past David de Gea.

Townsend celebrated his strike by performing his own version of Ronaldo's signature celebration.

However, the former Crystal Palace player claims that the event was simply a tribute to one of his heroes.

Andros Townsend told BT Sport that his goal celebration during Everton's 1-1 draw with Chelsea was "not imitating," but rather "a mark of respect to a guy who influenced my career."

"I spent a lot of time on the practice field and in the video room analyzing his free kicks and step-overs, as well as the way he dedicated himself to football."

So it wasn't a rip-off; it was a gesture of respect for one of my heroes.

"I probably didn't execute the celebration properly and didn't do it justice!"

Townsend's equalizer was his fifth goal in nine appearances since moving from Selhurst Park to Goodison Park, equaling his total of 79 appearances for Palace.

The former England winger scored his third goal in three Premier League appearances, a career high.
