I really thought Chelsea would win this game but it seems Chelsea is now a team that is in decline, the leaving of Abramovich and the nervousness of not knowing who the new owner will be is probably causing turmoil within the club. I just saw a lack of resolve in the players, like they are not really interested in what happens. Chelsea had possession, yes, but they also had a serious defect in their attacks it looked like they didn't much care what happened. Real Madrid on the other hand seemed to want the win very much and win they did, without doing much, but they have a very big lead if you realize that the next game will be in Madrid.
I say it is a deserved win, Real Madrid put more desire in their attacks, and I must tell you if there is one team I don't like it is Real Madrid, so I was more or less rooting for a Chelsea win but Chelsea was just not up to it today after I saw Benzema score the first goal very easily, you know the defense seemed to not be there, I figured the game was over, and so it was.
Of course, nothing is written in football and Chelsea does have quality players, but I also think Tuchel is out of ideas and the players are not motivated, a comeback is never off the table but based on what I saw today I say Real Madrid is already in the semi-finals.
The other game today, Villarreal-Bayern Munich ended with a Villarreal 1-0 win. Kind of surprising looking at the history of each team and the position they are in their respective leagues. I also dislike Bayern Munich, but I am quite sure they will make a comeback in Munich. I am betting on Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Bayern going through.
