At last I hit it with both teams that would make it through, this time to the Champions League semi-finals. Liverpool and Manchester City will be there, after both teams won their first game and drew in the second. I frankly only watched the last 15 minutes as I was out, but the Manchester City game was much more nerve racking than the Liverpool one.

Nevertheless it seems that weighing in on what I saw yesterday and today, maybe the right teams didn't make it through. Let me try to make a recap. Above are the stats for the Bayern-Villarreal game, with stats like that you would expect Bayern, who really were the better team would go through, but I think Villarreal astonished everyone with their very late goal. Real Madrid are there after some shady refereeing, from someone, whom I have read showed his limited capacity in the Juventus-Villarreal game. Chelsea were by far a better team than Real.

Then we have Liverpool, they couldn't hold on to a 3-1 lead and eventually had to conform themselves with a draw. Atletico, at least what I saw were way better than Manchester City.Perhaps the problem of the teams that are out was a lack of belief in themselves in the first game, in the second game they showed themselves as very good sides.

In any case what we have now is two English and two Spanish teams in the semi-final. Liverpool seems to be the favorite against Villarreal, the other semi is different to predict, Manchester seem to chicken out in Europe and Madrid has more experience. What I need in these semi finals is good refereeing, it is very difficult to lose a game due to bad referee decisions. And VAR doesn't help, in fact it seems it makes things worse. Chelsea were actually not given two penalties, which begs the question why did VAR not call them, they sure called for Alonzo's goal not to be given.
