Another UEFA Champions League day, today's games were- Paris Saint Germain-Barcelona and Liverpool-Leipzig. Both were nearly decided before the whistle was even blown as both home teams had won their away games. So I will go with the Barcelona game first, an inspired start by Barcelona but they were cut short by one of those Lenglet moments, a needless penalty very well executed by Mbappe. On the 37 minute Messi scored a very nice goal with a vicious shot from out of the area, but he missed, a few minutes later, a penalty which would have really put Barcelona in contention. I have always thought left footers are not as good with penalties, in fact Messi is just regular as a penalty shooter.
In any case the second half was just a confirmation that PSG are at this moment better than Barcelona, Barca tried but their quality right now is not top level. So this will be the first time in fifteen years that we won't have either Messi or Ronaldo in a CL quarter final. Well these are their last years, they have both been great, no need to fight over who was better, both have shown talent, grit and love for the game, so I wish them both the best.
In the other game Liverpool didn't have as much trouble as I thought they would and again beat Leipzig 2-0. Their terrible EPL form seems to go in the CL, I do hope they make it at least to the semis, as a Liverpool fan we need something from this season and I think the CL is the only thing we have, but again my favorites for winning it are ManCity or PSG.
