Greetings everyone,

This season's AFCON has been filled with lots of surprises and expectations that have overturned. Typical examples are the early evictions of Ghana from the group stages. This also gave birth to a history making day for a team which had not scored a single goal in AFCON who came in as the underdogs, Comoros.

They managed to surpass the early stages of this tournament and eventually went ahead to the 1/8th. This was where a dramatic turn of events happened where Comoros had challenges with their squad and wanted to postponed the match. This caused serious commotion at the stadium leading to a brawl that had several casualties. I think this can be one of the highlights of the tournament.

Another twist of the tale was the fact that Burkina Faso managed to evict Tunisia, the defending champions from the quarter finals of the match. Personally, it wasn't something I thought would happen but I believe the better team won. They played for their country in a great fashion and capitalized on the opportunities that were open.

On the stroke of half time, they had managed to convert a goal and did well to defend that goal the rest of the match.

Burkina Faso would be facing Senegal in their next fixture. This would certainly be interesting. Both teams are quite strong offensively and defensively but considering the level of experience in senegal's defensive and offensive side such as Edwordo Mendy, Koulibaly, Iddrisa Gueye, Sadio Mane, Bouna Sarr and so on, I fancy Senegal to win.

Their possible lineup can be seen below.

As for Egypt, I think there has been some amount of luck on their side. I say this because, anyone who watched their 1/8th match against Cote D'Ivoire would testify to the fact that they Cote D'Ivoire had the upper hand in the game especially looking at their chances in the first half of the game.

I really liked the way Eric Bailey held down the defense and the performance of Nicolas Pepe. Egypt on the other hand surfaced in the second half when it looked as if Cote D'Ivoire was playing a rather defensive game than attack.

I was disappointed to see the match come to penalties. But all the same, congratulations to Egypt for coming this far.

Egypt will be facing Cameroon in Semis in two days time.

Yah. Seriously Looks like all the strong teams are being eliminated in the AFCON. Just as you said Egypt were absolutely lucky with Cote D'Ivoire. Let’s hope their luck doesn’t run out against Cameroon. Am rooting for a final against Senegal. Hopefully they also qualify.

Same here. I think a fixture between Egypt and Senegal would be epic. Thank you.

The 2021 AFCON has caused us a lot of surprises. I will therefore not be surprised to see Bukina Faso and Cameroon at the finals. However, the favorite teams to be there is Senegal and Cameroon.

I hope the best team wins.

I won’t be surprised either. Both have been quite good.

No doubt about that.
