El primer tiempo fue dominado por Colombia: Argentina empezó como habitualmente lo hace, yendo a la ofensiva y presionar alto, creó chances con dos jugadas de Messi, que sumó otra asistencia para Lautaro Martínez, y así Argentina se puso en ventaja en los primeros minutos, pero luego Colombia empujó a Argentina hacia atrás con su juego por las bandas, con Cuadrado y Díaz, que culminaban en peligrosas pelotas para Zapata. Además, Argentina trató muchas veces de salir jugando desde abajo, pero sus intentos fueron infructuosos y terminaba tirando pelotas a dividir (la ausencia de Paredes puede notarse aquí, quizás). Así, argentina rara vez logró hilvanar una cadena de pases hacia adelante.
El segundo tiempo continuó similarmente a como terminado el primero, aunque en Colombia entraron Cardona y Fabra, volviendo aún más peligroso su ataque por la izquierda, hasta que un saque rápido de tiro libre y una gran definición de Díaz le otorgaron a Colombia el empate.
Pronto entraron en Argentina Di María y Paredes, ambos en buen nivel, sobretodo Di María, y, sumado a cierto cansancio de Colombia, que se vio forzada a bajar su intensidad, Argentina recuperó el control de la pelota y atacó; no logró crear muchas situaciones, no obstante, y Lautaro Martínez erró un gol increíble, y finalmente el partido terminó en empate, siendo Díaz la figura del encuentro en mi opinión, no sólo por el gol, sino porque su gambeta fue imparable. Pero en los penales la figura fue otra: el arquero argentino Dibu Martínez, quien atajó tres penales, y Argentina logró hacerse con la victoria en este desempate.
Ahora, viene la final en el Maracaná de Argentina-Brasil. ¿Podrá Messi ganar su primer título en la selección mayor?

Thus, Argentina hardly ever succeeded in connecting several offensive passes in a row.
The second half continued pretty much like the first, although in Colombia Cardona and Fabra subbed in, making the team’s attacks on the left more dangerous , until they tied the game with a quickly done free kick and a great definition by Díaz.
Soon afterwards Di María and Paredes subbed in for Argentina, both in good level, especially Di María, and that, plus a certain tiredness in Colombia’s players that forced them to lower their intensity, allowed Argentina to regain control of the ball and attack; they did not created many goal situations, nonetheless, despite Martínez incredibly missing a very clear chance to strike, and finally the match ended in a tie, with Díaz being the man of the match, in my opinion, not only for his goal, but because his dribbling was unstoppable throughout the whole game.
But in the penalty kicks there was another man: the Argentinian goalkeeper Dibu Martínez, catching three penalties, and thus Argentina took victory for themselves.
Now, the grand finale in the Maracaná between Argentina and Brasil awaits. Will be Messi finally able to win a title with the major national team?
