After Two Years Later, Easter Sunday Bomb Attack | 5% to SL-Charity

It has been two years since the Easter Sunday Bombing Attack that will never be forgotten.

It will be on Sunday 21st April 2019. At a time when the whole world is celebrating Easter Sunday, Christians in Sri Lanka also went to church to celebrate Easter Sunday. But everything changed in just a moment. Three Christian churches and three five-star hotels in Sri Lanka are bombed. Of those, 269 people were killed and more than 500 were injured.

A bomb blast at St. Anthony's Church in Kochchikade at 8.45 is killed, 56 people. At the same time, terrorists detonated another suicide bomb at St. Sebastian's Church in Katuwapitiya. In there, 115 of them died. Then, at 9.03 am, a bomb exploded at the Zion Church in Batticaloa. Thirty-one people were killed in the attack.

At 8.45 am and 14 minutes later another bomb exploded at the Shangri-la Hotel in Colombo. The attack killed 30 people and including 22 foreigners. Also, an explosion at the Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo at 8.47 is killed, ten people. It included 8 foreigners. Then, at 9.12 am, another bomb exploded at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, killing 22 people. Another bomber tried to detonate a bomb at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo, but failed and detonated it at the Tropical-Inn lodge in Dehiwala.

The main commemoration ceremony was held at St. Anthony's Church, Kochchikade today to mark the second anniversary of the Easter Sunday attack. It was held under the patronage of His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal, Archbishop of Colombo. Many religious leaders including the Maha Sangha also participated in this event. Then the church bell rang at 8.45 am and a two-minute silence was observed for the dead. Then the lamps were lit in remembrance of them.

However, two years after the Easter Sunday attack, the perpetrators have not yet been arrested. Therefore, we all hope that justice will one day be done to all those affected by this attack. Finally, "I wish Rest In Peace to all those who died in the attack on Easter Sunday Attack. May such an untimely death never happen again in any soul."

Justice has been denied for them. it's very disappointing to see this. It's really frustrating to see the direction the country is going. Innocent people lost their lives but they still don't care. 😖
