ICC Womens T20 World Cup, 2024

  • A few days back I shared basic details of the 9th edition of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.

  • So, as you can see the queens of Women's Cricket, Australia has already qualified for the semi-finals with a clear dominance. In Group A, the match between Pakistan and New Zealand will decide the next team to go through. Sri Lanka, who had a positive run before the tournament, couldn't win a single match, unfortunately.

  • In group B, Scotland and Bangladesh have already been eliminated and West Indies, South Africa, and England will be waiting for the next match to see the semi-finalists.

England tour of Pakistan, 2024

  • It's a 3-match Test series, aiming at the World Test Championship. The first match was already concluded and it was just crazy. the same thing happened to Pakistan in this match also, like the one against Bangladesh a few weeks back. They went for a high score in Rawalpindi flat track, declared, then lost the match.

  • The match was held at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan and Pakistan started their batting. As the day went by, there was nothing much for the ballers to offer. Pakistan batted for almost one and a half days and scored 556/10 in 149 overs. Shafique, Masood and Agha Salman contributed with centuries.

  • When it seemed like a draw, England had another plan. They scored runs pretty quickly. Crawly and Ducket gave the fifties, but everything happened when Root and Brook got together. At that point, the score was 249/3 in 49.3 overs. These two added 454 runs for the third wicket. It felt like all the Test batting records were in threat. The highest run score in Test by Sri Lanka, the highest partnership, and the highest individual score by Lara.

  • Anyway, England ended up scoring 823/7 in 150 Overs. Their run rate is simply unbelievable. It came from a triple hundred from Harry Brook and a career-highest 262 from Joe Root. Pakistan started the batting 269 runs behind and England's ballers did the trick. They were all out for 220 runs. England won by an innings and 47 runs.

  • "It's the first time in Test history that a team has lost by an innings after scoring 500-plus in the first innings." - src

Bangladesh tour of India, 2024

  • It was a clean sweep from India. I said last week how they did an impossible in the Test series. And they did even better in the T20I series.

  • In the second T20I match, India started the batting and the youngsters stepped up after losing a few early wickets. Nittish Reddi and Rinku Singh smashed quick innings to put 221/9 runs. Reddy's 74 off 34 balls included 7 sixes. In the chase, Bangladesh were not up to the mark. They lost regular wickets and ended up scoring only 135/9. India won by 86 runs.

  • The third match was even better. India won the toss, batted first again, and posted the highest T20I total ever, between two full-member teams. It's 297/6. Samson got his maiden T20I hundred, and he added 173 runs with SKY for the second wicket in just 69 balls. Then Parag and Pandya put more fireworks with cameos to lift the score. As the reply, it was just 164/7 from Bangladesh, having a big defeat of 133 runs.

West Indies tour of Sri Lanka, 2024

  • WI came to Sri Lanka for a red ball series of 3 T20Is and 3 ODI s.

  • The first T20I was in Dambulla Stadium. With fifties from Asalanka, and brilliant Kamindu Sri Lanka added 179/7 runs in their inning. Chasing the target, WI openers had the perfect start. Brandon King and Evin Lewis put in 107 runs for the first wickets using less than 10 overs. After their wickets, SL did put some pressure. But couldn't recover from there, as WI chased it in the 20th over with 5 wickets remaining.

So, that's it for today!! Until the next time! Enjoy!

Thank you.
Best Regards!
