Hello, fellow Cricket Enthusiasts,
You already know I am sharing a weekly wrap-up of what is happening within the Cricket community. It's the 89th edition now. After the conclusion of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, India became the champions Guess what's going on now! It's the IPL season!
Last week, I shared a small overview about 2025 IPL, and currently, it's going on with huge excitement. So, let's see what is happening there.
- Out of 74 matches, 14 have already been concluded, with all the teams having played at least 2 matches.
So, as expected at the start, their strengths and weakness are paying the prize. Anyway, the tournament had just started, and anything is possible.
Panjab Kings is currently leading the chart, winning both matches against Gujarat and Lucknow. They started the auction retaining just two players and rebuilding a whole new team under the captaincy of Iyer, who lifted the trophy last year with KKR. So, let's see how things turn out for them.
Delhi Capitals also have won both matches, especially with the superb balling attack from Starc.
On the other hand, KKR and RR are at the bottom, as predicted. They released most of the top players from last year, which I couldn't understand. And most probably this will continue for them.
- Pooran from LSG is leading the batting chart with a wonderful average and strike rate. Sai, Butler, Iyer, and Head are also at the top. Ishan Kishan of SRH smashed the first and only hundred so far in the tournament.
- And Noor Ahamed of MI is the leading wicket-taker with a great average. Starc and Hazewood are also in the top three, while Starc bagged the only fifer so far.
- While most of those matches were one-sided, we had a lot of suspense in a few. I will start with the second match against the Sunrisers and Rajastan.
We experienced how dangerous and explosive SRH is. With the addition of Ishan Kishan to the team, they had strengthened the muscle power. Against RR, they toyed with the ballers in Hyderabad. Batting first, Head and Sharma got the usual start, and the Ishan joined the party. Head scored 67 runs off 31 balls, and Kishan registered a hundred in 47 balls. With finishing touches from Klaseen and Reddy, they scored 286/6. It's the second-highest team total in the IPL. Archer had the worst night, giving away 76 runs in his 4 overs.
RR also didn't back up easily, with Sanju, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, and Dubey fighting till the end and scoring 242/6. This marked the second-highest team aggregate in the IPL.
- We saw another thrilling match between Capitals and LSG. With a brilliant effort from Pooran and Marsh, they scored 209/8. These two scored 13 sixes with 200+ strike rates.
The Capitals didn't have the perfect start. After 13 overs, the score was 113/6 needing around 100 runs in the last seven. Anyway, Vipraj Nigam got the momentum, scoring 39 off just 15 balls. From the other side, Ashutosh Sharma showed his power and nerve, winning the match in the last over, with just one wicket remaining.
So, things are getting heated. and comment on your predictions for the next match!
