A Visit to Anuradhapura National Water Supply and Drainage Board - 5% for SL-Charity

Yesterday was an interesting day for me and my working partner. It is because we had to visit Anuradhapura national water supply and drainage board. The purpose of this visit was to collect necessary information for the development of a computer model of the Anuradhapura water supply scheme.

We choose to travel by train because it is the easiest and more convenient method to travel that far from Colombo. We choose the intercity train from Mount Lavinia to Kankasanthurei. The arrival of the train to Colombo port was mentioned at 5.35 am. So, we went there around 5.15 am because we had to collect our e-tickets. I am not recommending ordering the ticket from dialling 444 because their service charge is very high. The cost per one person was 1200 lkr and they charged 400 lkr extra for phone call ordering service charge.

Unfortunately, we had to face an unexpected situation because they announced that the train will late at least 1 hour. Our plan was to go to Anuradhapura at around 9.30 am. But due to the delay to the train, the plan doesn’t work out. Anyway, we arrived a the office at 11.00 am. We could be able to collect necessary information up to the required level and complete the model up to some extent.

One special situation also happened there. I got to know that my steemit friend ChampikaWije is also working there as an Engineer. I went to meet her also. Surprisingly she recognised me immediately. On the other hand, it’s not a surprise because I regularly post my photos on steemit so she should recognise me. Haha!

After the work was completed, we headed back to the railway station at around 3.30 pm because our train was scheduled at 4.28 pm to come back to Colombo fort. Again the Sri Lanka Railways tried to show their colours. The returning train also going to be 40 minutes late. Wonderful.

Anyway, I arrived at Maradana at around 8.40 pm and there was a train back to Gampaha at 8.50 pm. I reached Gamphata around 9.45 pm. I was very hungry. So I needed something to eat. I wanted to try pizza because I haven’t tried it for a long time. I went to Gampaha pizza hut and ordered a personal combo pack. It was really good. Finally, I came home around 11 pm. Since it was a very busy day, after having a bath went to deep sleep. It’s the end of another interesting day of my life.
