DJI OM5 Smart phone Gimbal - 5% for SL-Charity

DJI recently released their new smartphone gimbal. It’s DJI OM5. OM means “Osmo Mobile”. I have previously written about this tech gadget when it got released. Now it’s within my hands. So I thought about sharing my experience with it. Let’s see what it’s capable of.

The main focus of using a gimbal is the avoid unwanted motion caused by our hands when using only the smartphone. Modern smartphones use various techniques to reduce this type of shakiness from videos. When we watch professional videos, we normally do not see any unwanted motion. Those are pretty steady. Likewise, using this gimbal plus our smartphone, we can achieve our goal to a extend that was never possible before.

The joystick is very helpful to rotate the phone in the direction we want. It’s using the manual mode. When we are using active tracking, it automatically faces us and records intelligently. Active tracking is the feature I like most.

There is a new feature that other versions of MO’s didn’t have. It’s The extension rod. It’s very useful for so many situations.

Recently I got the chance to check it when we are taking our university batch photo. I recorded videos using various kinds of modes. Actually, it was the first time I use it so it’s not perfect. But I have to learn and I will.

Rasi and I bought this for us from camera.lk. Because we take lots of photos. I think this will be a nice experience for us.
