We have seen the Hubble telescope serving the humidity for the past few years. The images that came out of it was never seen by humans before. Maybe you will also have space wallpapers like me on your desktop taken from this amazing telescope.

James Webb is the successor to the Hubble telescope. It was in development in the past 30 years with more than 1000 scientists involved to make it happen. It is told that they have spent more than 10 billion us dollars to make this happen which is mind-blowing. It was launched using an Ariane 5 rocket. It’s as important to use that rocket because of the size of the payload. The interesting thing is it was launched on Christmas day.

Launching it to space is not that difficult these days. But the complexity of this telescope makes us very nervous about whether it will be successful or not. Nasa said that there are more than 300 possible points of failure after launching it. The reason for that is it is folded into several segments. The sun shield is almost the size of a tennis court. Because of that reason, it’s folded and travelled into space. Before it operates, it has to unfold to its working position. Since there are too many moving mechanisms to work right we just have to pray.

You can see the gold plated mirror right? It’s gold. Because gold is of the best light reflectors in the world with more than 98% which is impressive. The Hubble uses a glass mirror. It’s heavier than this huge 6.5-meter diameter 18 hexagonal panels within the mirror. It’s designed to work in the infrared zone. This means we will be able to see things that are not possible to see using the Hubble telescope. My only wish is, please do not happen anything wrong with this mission. This will be the most important space project in this decade. Unlike Hubble, we can not repair this one we wanted to. Because ethos telescope is 4 times distance like the distance from the earth to the moon. That’s why everything has to work right. But they say it’s worth the risk. Let’s see.
