I think one reason that I get quite overburdened by work is my own self. Even if I have thousand and one work to do, I will never say no to go out and relax myself because I believe that we all need me time amidst our workload. This is one such story where I ventured to have fun when actually I have quite of assignments and readings to be done.

I went to one galle face couple of weeks ago and realized Diwali is coming soon because of the decors. That has totally escaped from my mind due to my concentration was on uni work. So I took some pictures of decors and sent them to one of my best friends who happened to be a Tamil, thinking that he would love to see them. His reply was quite unexpected because he and his family invited me to celebrate Diwali with them. I had two assignments due to Diwali day and the following day, but would I say no to such experience because of assignments that I’m spending time on everyday? Never. But as a result of that I spent a couple of sleepless nights to finish my assignments before Diwali, so I can enjoy the day stressfreely.

I had to face with an issue on deciding what to wear for the day, and my big sis suggested me to wear a saree because she knew that I was waiting for an opportunity wear a saree. And the other reason is that, it will look good for the temple comparing to the other dresses I had in my boarding 😅

so as planned, I went to the temple with my friend’s family and me and big sis had been to temple with them once before this. They were so happy to see that I remembered at least half of the things that we did in the temple, and I was surprised at my memory too. I was happy at big sis’ suggestion of wearing a saree because many people have born nice traditional dresses to the temple. And I think I made my friend’s family happy too from my enthusiasm about their cultural festival.

It was overall one of the best experiences I had in this year. I loved this little peekaboo to their culture and obviously wearing flowers and pottu and ofc their sweets! The effort i took to balance both my work and hangouts worth it! And it made me realized one more thing….. Everyone enjoy when others respect their beliefs and culture just as much as we expect others to expect our beliefs as well.
