There is this common meme that is commonly being shared which says something like “The four year time of your university time will become 5 years which will become the best 6 years of your life.” Even though this is kinda exaggerated for humor, it is common for the four years to slightly get dragged. It was the case for me too. A strike delayed my final course work for three months when I had only two more weeks to complete my final vivas. However, I’m finally and officially have completed my course work, and thus, ended the four years at university after 53 months.

My university experience is not quite the typical what others would think as the uni life. Till this date, there hasn’t been any batch trips, socials, going downs or not even a batch photo. Many say that we had missed the fun of uni when hearing this, but most of these things didn’t happen because we preferred it in that way since the culture that we had in our dep was different. Just like that, there wasn’t any grand celebrations when we entered the dep and neither there was any when we left it. All of us just wanted to be finally done with all the uni works, and were happy to leave to it knowing that we are done.
Had a never ending reading marathon during those 53 months
It is a place that I am grateful for, but I can’t write exaggerated things as many others would write at the end of their four years because I don’t hold attachments or sentiments to that length there. One main reason for this is, I didn’t dedicate four years of my life just for uni as I was occupied with others. The other reason is what others thought as “having fun” wasn’t really considered as fun by me. So I didn’t try to follow the tide just to match others. However, I did what I found to be fun. I attended the events I like, planned few events at the dep, I joined the Track & Field team, planned meets and even held the captaincy. After considering all of those, those four years weren’t so bad as others might judge just because my experience was different.
I had my own ups and downs during those four years, things I loved and things I absolutely hated. I’m happy that I can finally be graduated now, but more than anything, I’m relieved that I am done now.
