Pure fangirling moments 💕

Ceylon literally festival took place from 8th and 9th of Feb in Kandy and from 10th-12th of Feb at Colombo Public Library. I was able to get registered early with my university ID and got a free pass for the whole day, if not I have to pay Rs. 2 2500 for 45min session. I was very excited because one of my fav Sri Lankan English novelists was supposed to release his new book there.

When thinking back, that day spent among my favourite Sri Lankan English novelists and fellow literary enthusiasts bring a very wholesome feeling. I went crazy with my friend as soon as I saw some unexpected writers who had attended the event as moderators even though they were not speakers. I wanted to eat my brain alive for not bringing their novels to get their autograph on those books. But no time to regret, I had a tiny notebook with them which would serve the purpose. My friend suggested me to turn that book into an autograph book but what I had my mind was to paste those pages in their novel.

I had four favourite Sri Lankan writers, but I actually started stop fangirling one after getting to know all the inside stories. I was hoping that the other three would not disappoint us because we think highly of them and fangirl them more than any other actors or singers. I was so relieved to realize that they were so modest and down to earth, and it was such a bliss to being able to interact with them. I could get the signatures of all the other three writers, and I’m more than grateful that they tried to speak little with each one of us while they were signing.

We selected beanie bags to rest until we calm down our excitement after seeing those figures, and a chill a bit chatting.

The outside atmosphere was also very heavenly. It had a picnic atmosphere as they had stationed benches, mats and beanie bags outside where people could read books, chat and engage in some activities. There was a wall to colour and another wall to write anything you want, and we wanted to leave our marks there.

As I told to one of my fav people there, “Seeing you guys made my whole day and most probably the upcoming weeks”, I’m still really enjoying the literal meaning of those words.
