You sure reality is real?

Reality… just a continuation from real by adding a suffix. Reality can be a very tricky word because it automatically gives the idea of “real”. It makes us believe something without having doubts because “it’s real”. You will be so sure of the reality until you see one perspective and one version of reality. What if you come across with different dimensions and variety of versions of reality…. Boom… your confidence in reality will shattered in pieces.

Dhoka is an Indian-Hindi language crime thriller film that I came across by luck. I decided to watch it simply because that was the only my type of a movie that was available in the cinema hall at that time and I was in a mood to watch a film. But it was exactly the cup of tea for person like me who has deep rooted doubts about reality. Even if you are a person who firmly believe in reality, the film will make you doubt for a moment about the autonomy of reality.

There is Sanchi on one side who is suffering from multiple personally disorder according to her husband; Yatharth. And on the other hand, Sanchi reveals that Yatharth is tryna prove his wife to be a lunatic since he is having an affair with her psychiatric. It’s just one simple relationship between a husband one wife, but the realities that they are making are totally contradictory. It’s not only Sanchi and Yatharth who invent different realities from the same incidents. This is similar with Haq Gul and ACP Malik; a prisoner proven to be a terrorist and a police officer. Haq Gul was guilty for a bomb attack according to ACP Malik, but Haq Gul claimed to be innocent. You have to constantly guess what is truth when engaging with these characters and their versions of reality.

At the end of the movie, you will be in a serious doubt if the reality is real. Is reality real? Or, does it have so many faces? What do you think?
