This book is being my favourite since the day I read this. It is "Alan Quatermain" by H.Rider Haggard, my fav author so far. I read its Sinhala translation, done by Mr.Ariyarathna Jayakodi. "Alan Quartermain" is a thrilling novel published in 1887.
The story follows the character "Alan Quartermain" and it is obvious from the name of the novel too. He is an explorer and a man searching for new experiences and adventures. In this book he narrates his story as an adventurer explores in Africa. The plot describes his exploration of the African wilderness with his companions.
He and his companions depart to find a lost kingdom and their journey leads them through lots of encounters and terrible experiences. The novel is filled with thrilling moments. It describes everything in details whilst helping the reader to imagine it easily in mind.
It includes geographical features of Africa too. Haggard's skill of creating an adventurous atmosphere is clearly showcased in the novel. Fans of classic adventure literature and historial context would definitely love this book.
This book worth reading!
