Sharing vesak cards with friends was not a must! But we did it happily. As a child I was waiting for buy beautiful vesak cards and gift them writing a nice quote which was very popular among the gang. I still remember a quote which was written in a card " ප්රීති වෙසක් සුබ වෙසඟක්, මාව මතක් වෙන්න පතක්"!
Two three years ago, I found an old vesak card bag I recieved from my little friends. Sometimes we do not remember all our friends and even their names. That Vesak card bag brought back me the memory. There were three shops near to my school and before the vesak day, I could be found in one of those shops, choosing the best and beautiful Cards for my friends. With the time their price changed from 1 rupee to 5 rupees as I remember. Most beautiful cards for the most beautiful friends and others for others. That was the method!
Finally um not called as a child and um an adult. Now I do only Vesak lantern making, if I get a chance. This time we wanted some lanterns to light in the night in our institute and as a batch we decided to do it together. It was not a big deal at all! Lanterns were small and when it is done by a whole adult batch it was a simple task.
I believe that Dansal are one of the best things happen in Sri Lanka on Vesak Poya days. Many people go for them as a habit. Yesterday colombo Nursing school held a "සව් දන්සල"! After having the lunch we all decided to go there and drink a cup of saw. I added it's photo appriciating their nice work.
Since in the morning rain drops are kissing colombo earth. I decided to stay in the boarding as I have mild fever and common flu. But I can feel the warmth of Vesak.! Hope this quote which looks simple, but has the powerful meaning will add a meaning to your vesak day
නොරිදවා නොරිදවී ජීවත් වෙමු!
Happy Vesak to you all!
I really miss the good old vesak vibe 🥺❤️. Now it feels different
