A Moment in a Forest

Last week was too depressing and busy. So the weekend means a lot of releases. Most importantly we spent last weekend at my parents' house with their brother and even dogs.

On a Saturday morning, we had no special work to do, so we were discussing where we can visit. My brother also wanted to go somewhere.

So he proposes to visit Kottawa which has a forest reservoir. During our childhood we visited Kottawa Aranya with our parents. This time we thought of going to the forest area.

Actually, Kottawa wasn't that far from our house. It was like 50 min travel by car.

The bus route Galle Yakkalamulla falls through the Kottawa forest so anyone can easily reach by bus also.

To a certain extent, you can see the forest beside the main road. It was a fantastic vibe where you feel you are crossing heaven.

Kottawa is a tropical forest with taller and thinner trees, waterways, and lots of ferns.

You can see lots of them from the road.

We wanted to go inside the forest as my brother also wanted to take some photos. There was a ticket counter at the entrance and it cost only 70 LKR.

We walked along the concreted pathway which was already covered with dried fallen leaves.

I must say that there were leached who were waiting to hang on our foot. So they did.

Eventhough we could see any special mammals or birds but lots of snails and insects.

Especially there were a number of mushroom species which was very common in tropical rainforests.

We walked a lot from one entrance to the exit across the forest and also had to walk back to the car which was parked at the entrance. Eventhough we were a bit tired it was good exercise for us and also it refreshed our breath.

At the end, we stopped by a tea room just in front of the entrance and had some warm Rotties, wadeis with tea. They were delicious!!!

We all were very satisfied of our Saturday visit.
