When it comes to October, we start to feel exhausted from being in the same routine. Working from home is a luxury, but when you repeat it for months without change, it can also be tiring.

So, we planned to escape from all our daily routines, including working from home, babysitting my nephew, cooking, and even watching TV shows.

We chose Nuwara Eliya as our destination, which was also on our bucket list for this year. We thought the cool weather would help relieve our stress and provide a refreshing escape to the hill country. We set our visit for a long weekend in October, made reservations, and mapped out our route. Unfortunately, heavy rain began, lasting for weeks with flooding and landslides. We had to postpone our bookings until the weather improved and conditions returned to normal.

It was disappointing, but we decided to wait until November. We thought this might actually be a good sign, as it would let us avoid the long weekend crowds that usually flock to Nuwara Eliya.

We set a new date for November but held off on making any reservations until the last moment. About a week before the trip, I caught the flu and developed a cough. It was a setback, but I sought treatment right away and recovered quickly. Most importantly, I wanted to avoid getting Harith sick, as every time I fall ill, he tends to get even sicker or vice versa.

Thankfully, I recovered in time, and Harith was also in good health. We still packed plenty of medicine and remedies to stay safe from even the slightest sickness.

During our last trip to Sigiriya, Harith got sick first, then I caught it, and our second and third days of the trip were ruined. This time, we were much more cautious about our health.

After overcoming all these challenges, we finally set off for Nuwara Eliya. Stay tuned to see how it all went!
