Finding a Bed!

A month back I wrote this article about Damro, and again I thought to write an extension for it. After two weeks of observations, we decided where to buy the bedroom set. It is Damro. In the last article I gave several reasons why should we buy from them and the things we lose from doing so. Eventhough Damro is not the cheapest solution, we picked them considering plenty of other facts.

When picking the bedroom set, first we checked them from their site and went through everything they had. But both of us had no clear picture of quality until we first visited to a showroom. "First visit for learning". We stopped by Panadura showroom and from there we realized the items are way better than the photos. At that point, we realized each showroom has about 7-10 bedroom suits on display.

From the first visit we learned how they estimate the warranty and how the discount and payment schemes work. We didn't pay much attention to picking a specific set, but we paid attention to understanding Damro. Ha haa.

For your information, they normally give a 15-year warranty for beds without any leather materials. When the bed contains later or any other material the warranty is 3 years. All other items are provided with a 3-year warranty.

Hereafter we went to the Ambalanoda showroom which is not too big, but there we learned some bedroom sets are clearing because they are going to change the material color. For example, they will no longer do black items for a given bedroom set. All new stocks will be brown.

That's where Harith started to fire. :) Because he specifically wanted a BLACK bedroom set. My requirement was to have a less plain design. Also, we considered the width of the mirror table and the size of the wardrobe. Finally, we picked a design from Ambalangoda, but they had only brown color of it. But as the website wasn't updated yet, it showed a black set. They said it is difficult to guarantee whether we can find a black one.

Our second mission began to find a black Ornate you see on the top. All our purchases has some kind of challenging part that makes us travel here and there.

As we didn't finalize our order yet, we visited Balapitiya and Moratuwa showrooms as well. Finally, at Moratuwa, we were able to see the full Black Ornate setup with a king size bed. We realized this set is elegant looking and even not too expensive. As we saw the setup from our own eye, we decided to go for an Ornate Suit. But existing items at Moratuwa were already sold but still we had a hope for finding same.

Anyway, our purchase should be happen from Balapitiya Showroom, which is also a super showroom. There we had several discussions with the staff about how we can do the payment in an optimum way.

They could offer credit card 0 installment as one option. It comes with 5% discount. Also, they had a seasonal offer of 15% for furniture and 10% for mattresses. Further, they are launching new loyalty cards too :) Anyway as the Ornate Black is a rare resource we had to pay 10% of the total cost in cash to reserve the items for us. Damro's crew checked for inventories around the area and finally arranged the items for us.

We utilized the cost by both paying cash and paying with a credit card. They divided the bill in a way that we can get both discounts. About 25 000LKR reduced from the bill in this way. Further for the 10% cash payment we did, we got another 7000 LKR bonus on our next purchase. :)

Actually, Damro crew supported us their best way to give us best advantage. Now we are looking forward till their delivery!
