This Saturday was a hectic day. We planned to purchase major kitchenware items on this day. We went to Maharagama for several other works and same time we decided to drive extra miles to Petta to buy kitchenware. As usual, we made a long list of items and declared a budget of 50 000 LKR for the complete visit. As our new kitchen is full empty we had to purchase from the smallest item.

As I had already purchased almost all the containers already, we only had to buy the rest of the stuff like spoons, knives, cutting boards, pans, and other tools.

Our route from Mahragama to Pettah was placed through Pamunuwa. It was our first time seeing Pamunua, and we stopped by a roadside shop to purchase some cloth hangers. We didn't spend much time comparing prices with other shops and we directly purchased from the first shop we stopped by. It took 300LKR for a dozen of plastic no-trace hangers and 450 for ten saree hangers. We could have buy for a cheaper price if we check more, but we didn't too much time on this.

It was 12 noon when we reach Pettah. We are too new for Petta and at the beginning, we had the problem of finding a parking place. But we could find a place that provides paid roadside parking, which charges 80 LKR per hour.

Our destination was Dam Street, aka Wella Veediaya. It is the famous street for kitchenware as we finally found it after youtube research :). Actually, there were plenty of people, vehicles, and shops and to me, it took some time to adjust to the environment. Anyway, we visited many many shops to understand the price difference.

We purchased almost all the stuff on our list except the nonstick pans. We had trouble deciding which brand to buy because each shop had a different brand and different price.

There was everything that we need, but we spend lots of time picking the item with the ideal quality and price. I will share with you the shops we purchased items in my next article.

We spent like three hours there and around 3 pm we turned back to home. We had our lunch from Burger Hut Dehivala which we frequently visit.

As the very last thing we stopped by Pheonix Plastics Panadura to purchase the rest of the plastic items like dustbins. It was like 7.30 pm when we back home.

How is the prices in dam street? I'm also planning to visit it soon cz I need to buy few items for the kitchen in my boarding.

Shopping is fun same time very tiresome.

As our new kitchen is full empty we had to purchase from the smallest item.

It is a big project then. 😀
