Galle Dutch Fort

Galle fort is a place identified as a cultural heritage and a place which has a huge tourist attraction. It is known to us as Portuguese has started building this in 1588. In 17th century Dutch has built the fort into the current state by using their architectural Designs. They have fully encircled the area and the wall was built with corals and granite. This was their defense against colonial rulers. We also refer Galle fort as Galle Dutch fort because of this.

Still we can see the old Galle city inside the fort while new city is situated just outside the fort. Now the old city has developed into a place which attract local and foreign tourists. There are Banks, Post offices, Schools, Temple, Churches, Library, Court, Hotels, restaurants and many more. It still operates as a city.

Some people visit Galle fort in the evening for walks jogging, some play cricket and football. We can see kites in the season. Even people do photoshoots there because of the nice and attractive background.

I have visited Galle fort many times with my family members, with my friends. An evening walk inside Galle fort is amazing. We can see the Galle town, Galle international cricket stadium, Samanala Ground, the sea and the harbor while walking on the rampart. There is a little staircase in one place, using that people can enter into the beach. Another thing you can see almost all the time from the Dutch fort is ships which sail to or from the harbor. Galle fort is important to me in a personal way because I met someone Special in my life there.
