A Memorable Day to Ruwanweli Seya

Last week, my mother and I went to visit my sister after a few weeks. She has a newborn baby, and we wanted to see her. We also brought some gifts for her. The main purpose of our visit was to fulfill my sister and brother’s promise to visit Ruwanweliseya, Anuradhapura, within three months of the baby’s birth.

We left Kurunegala at 3 p.m. to start our journey. On the way, we stopped at an ice cream shop to enjoy something cool. The shop was calm and beautiful, perfect for relaxing. They had various unique flavors like durian, nelli, tandoori, and banana. I tried some flavors for the first time, and they were delicious, costing just Rs. 300 per cup. We got three cups since my mother doesn’t like ice cream.

After the short break, we continued our journey and reached Ruwanweliseya around 6 p.m. The weather was pleasant, and the temple was crowded yet peaceful. Everyone was engaged in religious observances, creating a calm atmosphere.

We spent 1.5 hours there, performing religious rituals. It was my first time visiting Ruwanweliseya at night, and the experience was indescribable. The serene environment made me feel peaceful, and I even meditated for a while.

Afterward, we started our journey back home. We decided to stop for dinner at a buffet restaurant. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t as good as we expected, but we managed. Heavy rain made the journey challenging, but we safely reached home by 11 p.m.
This trip was a mix of joy, peace, and it was a memorable day.
