Tyre Mafia in Sri Lanka - 5% Sl-Charity

I think this is one of the most trending topics in Sri Lanka among vehicle owners. Due to the Covid pandemic, sanctions were imposed by the Sri Lanka government for imports. The aim of that sanction was to avoid the money flowing to other countries from Sri Lanka. To fulfill the requirement of imported goods, the government has established new factories in the country. For the improvement of the tyre industry, one of the biggest tyre factories in Asia, also newly built in the Kaluthara district - Sri Lanka.
For my traveling purposes, I am using a motorbike & a car. Due to the Covid pandemic, I have totally stopped using public transport methods. So the tyre wastage of these vehicles also high. It means I have to change tyres within short time periods than the previous. Firstly I had to replace the one tyre of my motorbike & It was not much difficult to find a tyre from the market. Then I had to replace two tyres of my car. In this case, I had to face big trouble. I went to a tyre shop & ask them to replace my vehicle's tyres. They told the they don't have the required size tyre for my car. Then I went to another place & their answer was the same as the previous. After that, I went to more than fifteen tyre shops & got the same answer. I asked them the reason for the unavailability of the tyre. They told that the production of local tyre manufacturers was not enough to fulfill the customers' requirement. In this time period government ordered to police to find the tyre condition of vehicles & ordered them to made fines for using the bad conditioned tyres. So I was so scared to drive, my vehicle in such a condition. So I post on Facebook to find the tyres. Replies for this post also showed the condition of availability of tyres in the market.

After failing this attempt, I got some contact numbers of tyre shops from the internet & called them. Someone doesn't have the required sized tyres & others have them. But they told the double price for a single tyre. I asked the reason for increasing the prices to double the previous price. They told that the unavailability of tyres is the reason for that. I realized that there is a mafia among them. They are selling tyres for black market price. People are helpless in this kind of situation. Driving without having good condition tyres of your vehicle automatically left your lives at a risk. To avoid this risk you had to pay double... This is a time to ask from your heart, where is humanity?
