My Dream Has Come True - Our Newly Built House | 05% for Sl-Charity

As a human being, we are dreaming to have a good job, a complete family, a comfortable place to live and a vehicle to travel. In my life I have fulfilled all dreams except house until I complete it recently.
Once we got jobs, married and had a child we were in need of building a home for our own.
As the 01st steps we derived 04 critical criteria for the task.

01. Location
Then we started to find a land. We mainly concern an area which is belonged to the popular school margin and my wife’s work place. After seeking about 6 months we ultimately found a land which comply with our requirement.

02. Budget
We analyzed the deposits what we have already and potential loan capacity to decide the budget. Finally we decided to go for 9 million budgeted value.

03. Architectural layout / Structural design
Then we together discussed the arrangement and the key features of the home before go to the designer. Since I have experience in construction, I could build up the layout with the cooperation of senior draftsman. We had a plan with two stories house. Ground floor is consisted with living area, kitchen, two bed rooms, and two bathrooms, car park & veranda. Upper floor has two bedrooms, one bath room and terrace area. All the parts were designed to full fill the UDA requirements and regulations. Then I visualized the 3d views with sketchup to fine tune the arrangement. Arrangement of gardening and kitchen was planned by my wife. Structural design part was done by myself. For that I used Sap 2000 and Prokon for structural analysis. Structural members were designed using the outputs values came from the structural analysis.

04. Time line
We decided to complete the ground floor before start schooling of my child. For that I had to complete the 1st step before May 2021. Estimated duration was 9 months.
After that we start to build our house in a good time (8th August 2020). Step by step we were pleasured by seeing building our dream home. But it was hard and very stressful period to me and my wife because we both are busy with our work stations. But we had a dream, that is what we were driven at the hard times. Many times progress was hit by the problems of the workers and the issues in the cash flow. After about nine months we completed ground floor as 1st step. We decided to move to our new house as we are in desire to live freely in house of our own. But we were in trouble to fix roller door, pantry cupboard and providing furniture’s due to abrupt current situation with covide19 pandemic. But we could manage the situation with available facilities. Finally we are enjoying living together in our sweet home as a family. My wife and son are really happy to live here. That’s a huge achievement of my life.
