Road Trip to Polonnaruwa 🏍️ - Part 01

Road trips were always on my bucket list. We often travel by train, car or van when we go on a trip. But I always wanted to travel by bike. Unfortunately I do not know how to ride a bike. Therefore I had to wait until my marriage for this. 😒

Last month we spent one weekend at Polonnaruwa. It was originally a business trip. But we two decided to make it to a personal trip. We left the home at around 4am. We packed essentials into two bags. We checked the route on the previous day. We decided to avoid crowded areas.

But as it is too early, no crowd at all. We had to stick due to rain at around Horana area for few minutes. Other than that, sky was good throughout the weekend. We stopped for breakfast at around Ambepussa area. We choose Island Tea Co. & Ceylon Coffee Club as Nawoda wanted to have a coffee.

Then travel begannnn....! We choose the path via Dambulla. I am always the map reader. Fortunately, I am not that bad in map reading like other girls. It is a fact that girls are not good at map reading. On the way, we did not forget to eat delicious corns. Freshly harvested ones are always milky in flavor.

At around 1pm we could reach Polonnaruwa safely. Once we reached our destination, we kept our bags there. Our client came to the hotel & we finished that official work first. So, we are free now. We went to Pollonnaruwa town to have lunch. We found a good place there with reasonable prices & good service. If anyone visiting Polonnaruwa, it is called - Hungry Muppets Restaurant & Cafe.

Our hotel was on the bank of Parakramasamudraya. There is a channel around that carries water from Parakramasamudraya to other small tanks. There is a famous bathing place there which is safe. We took a bath there. It was very refreshing.

On the way back we decided to explore bund of the tank a bit. The view was amazing with evening sunset. The wind was very much relaxing. I have another beautiful story to tell you all about the things that we saw there. I will be back later with that. Until then, Have a nice day!
