from this tutorial. Read till end.. You'll thanks us later!

The Importance of Commenting

It is normal that you are making a comment in a good post that you see. Comments has many benefits, not only for you but also for the steemit community.

  • Comments are open for rewards
  • Comments motivate writers
  • Comments give opportunity to ask questions and learn more
  • Comments allows you to share your knowledge on the matter
  • Comment show the engagement
  • Comment help to make new friends

Styles of Comments You Can Make

May be you feel that commenting is just another activity. But commenting in steemit is an Art. Let me present some commenting styles that you can follow.

Commenting while reading.
If you are reading about an interesting article, you can comment while reading it. You can select lines that are heart toughing and you can quote them and comment about it. This help to make long comments worth as a small post.

Commenting on summary
Basically you can comment on the whole idea of the post after reading full content. This ignores parts you don't like and mainly focus on the main idea of the article. Good for medium size comments.

Commenting on a selected fact
In some articles you can find a fact which is very close to your life. When you see a part which is very familiar with your knowledge, you can talk more about it. This style helps to make long opinion based comments.

Commenting new knowledge Sometimes you may feel the article that you read hasn't covered enough knowledge. When you has more knowledge and experience than the author, you can give more new knowledge with your post.

Commenting opposite ideas
If the post doesn't talk truth, you can talk against. The way you use the feeling is up to you. You can express why this is wrong, what is the truth, why this should be corrected and how.

Quick comments
This are the simple comments that we make most of the times. If you are too busy with other activities, but still you want to show that you read the post you can use them. But less worth. Try to avoid this style.

Let's Discuss Some Common Scenarios

Carefully read, this is the most practical part of this tutorial.

Case 1 : Image Post
Here you have a post with an image that has nothing special on it. So what kind of comments you should make?

image.png
In left hand side, comment you should avoid. In right hand side, comments that you should try to make

If you are a good commenter, a bunch of things should come into your mind. Reduce the use common general comments when commenting. Try to write some thing about what you see. It is not a crime if you do a little funny statement or emoji. If you are disagree on what you are seeing, just comment it kindly.

Case 2: A Diary or Other Article
You are unable to read whole thousands of articles that generated daily from your friends. But try to fully read posts that you are attempt to read. Use one of the styles I proposed above and put the comment.

image.png

Make the comment according to the content of post. Don't be lazy read it well and pick some important points and write about them. When commenting you can do following things.

  • Give an opinion
  • Share your experience on the matter
  • Ask questions
  • Do suggestions
  • Advising or motivating
  • Do a joke or express your feeling
  • Do some extra observation/calculation/research on matter and talk
  • Share relevant images or links on matter

Okay, let's move to another very important scenario. How you normally deal with a comment that you get to your post. I have seen many long and constructive comments are end up with just "Thanks" as reply. That's not good.

Let's see how to deal with a comment.

Case 3: A Comment
Please forget about the root article for following example. Just focus on the comment. What kind of answers you can give for such a constructive comment?

image.png

Never let down the effort of commenter. Reply back with a suitable answer. No matter whether you agree or disagree on comment. Tell it. Or you are free to skip the parts that you don't like. Try to be friendly, act as you in your real life.

It is better to make conversation under comments. That shows how much you are engaging.

Wrap Up

Let me summarize all the things now.

  • All ways try to do constructive meaningful comments rather than general comments
  • Use different styles of commenting
  • Act as real life
  • Ask questions, give opinions, suggestions, corrections, contradictions, arguments any action that prefer.
  • Always reply to comments with meaning full reply.
  • Try to make conversations
  • Do not hesitate to join conversations between other two members, if you have something to talk about.
  • Don't forget to hit upvote button when ever you make comments.

And tell us if you have any other hacks about commenting. Hope this article help you to get some idea about what to comment. And you can use #onepercent #twopercent up to the usefulness of your comment to have 1%-2% votes from @steemcurator01 or @steemcurator02

Commenting is an Art. You can get good result by practicing. And of course you can apply them everywhere!

Excellent article.

This is a great resource for the whole community.

Thank you for preparing this.

The Steemit Team

Commenting is, indeed, an art.

But it's also an essential part of authentic engagement; a "conversation" of sorts between the creator and the reader/consumer of a piece of content. And so part of the overall process is also to start with engaging content.

In the past days of Steemit, there was a lot of conversation and discussion of the whole notion of "quality" content. But in social media, is it really quality we need? Or is it more a case of value we need? If a piece of content adds value to the social media experience, perhaps it's not always the quality wee need to scrutinize. After all, most people aren't Pulitzer Prize winners...

People tend to make conversations in real life but I'm wonder why they say "good bye" so soon in comments. Ha ha.. But you are correct, conversation is the sign of engagement. May be their busy life style force them to quickly skip from a conversation.

The quality vs value.. It is my personal opinion, the value is a part of quality. But in other hand, there can be a person who can gives a good knowledge but unable to organize his content. There is value but low quality. There are two kinds of people I see in steemit. :) You can guess.. As in normal life people with similar characteristics cluster together and they grow together. :)

Important topic ☺️👏
I think you have spent a lot of time in developing this content.

Reduce the use common general comments when commenting. Try to write some thing about what you see. It is not a crime if you do a little funny statement or emoji. If you are disagree on what you are seeing, just comment

Comments are the reflections of the post and its a motivation to the writer.

Ask questions, give opinions, suggestions, corrections, contradictions, arguments any action that prefer.

These things can be include in a comment so that it becomes a good comment ☺️.

Commenting is an Art. You can get good result by practicing. And of course you can apply them everywhere!

As Im a bit new to the community this article will really helps me to improve my commenting as well as for other uses.
Best of luck!

think you have spent a lot of time in developing this content.

6 months of thinking and 2 hours to convert it to images and words. Ha ha.. As a conclusion what we all have to do is adding a value from each single "POST" button click. Applicable even for real life.

Actually with the busy routine , sometimes we had to give short comments 😓

But I agree 💯 with this article. If we give a small comment , it may a reason to underestimate others who put comments on our articles..

Other thing is thank you. Sometimes I also do this bad work. But if we have very short comment for our post wow, superb like that, it's hard to give a good reply comment beyond saying thank you... I have faced to that it many times and I have done this too...😓

This is time to change.... I'm happy if others also think like me😃.....

Good article 💪❤️

Actually with the busy routine , sometimes we had to give short comments

Yes that's correct. I believe the practice will automatically leads us to put short but valuable comments.

But if we have very short comment for our post wow, superb like that, it's hard to give a good reply comment beyond saying thank you...

Yes. Same here. It's better to do as they do.. What else we do!!! It's like the world's shortest love story..
Boy : "Hi I love you"
Girls : "Thanks"
Boys:" Welcome"

Done.. :D But when you met the correct audience you'll start to love to do comments..

Thank you for the information. But even though I comment, I can't get any interaction. Where is the error?

May be the audience. Try to change the audience. Steemit is a large space. You can find people who love to interact with you more. :)

Terrific article.

We all must read and comment to posts. It is very much needed and shouldn’t miss to do that.

Thank you for sharing it.

#resteemed

Thanks for resteeming Neeraj. BOI affable concept is also came to improve commenting. It is very important everyone involving this together.

With the busy lifestyles we are spending, we always prefer to do things taking less time. That is the reason behind not commenting or very small comments. But we all love when someone read your posts and like them. We are happy to see people commenting our posts appreciating us or supporting us. It makes us inspired to do our work. That is why we should appreciate others. It may encourage us doing their work. That is the reason why comments are important.

This is a very important article to anyone who wants to have a long journey here, specially for me as I am new to Steemit. I got much knowledge from this. Thank you for sharing this article😊
