Batch trip- the trip of life

Before I say anything, take a look at this picture, take a breath and relieve the memories for a moment...

I’m pretty much sure that most of you, university students have seen this site, may be several times but only one would be felt from the core. Indeed, the one and only batch trip.

We all had that “the batch trip “which was the “trip of life” for some people in the batch, as they find their better half amidst the hard and gritting challenge of hiking Hanthana.

If anyone of you is still wondering, this is the picture of Hanthana mountain range in Peradeniya, taken at our batch trip in early 2017. The batch trip itself is a part of subculture of university life and a regular feature of any university in Sri Lanka and most probably it would be happening in first semester or year. Hundreds of people that do not know each other very well, get together, care for each other and having only one goal in mind.

Mind you that Hanthana is not the easiest for a rookie to climb. It takes a lot of courage and grit. Some of you might have never gone forward if there were no friends who took care of you when you were down and out. May be some of them were new faces you haven’t seen in the batch if it was still early days. It is rather amazing that how the bonds that created in the journey would be everlasting. And It’s funny that our seniors used to say, “don’t worry malli you’ll find your future wife in the wild of Hanthana” and it was not an outrage at all.

Personally, this photo was special for me as well as this was one of few better photos I took when I just bought my camera, and it was praised a lot by my friends and used as a décor in hotel as well.
