How to take a better photograph | Part 1 |5% to s l-charity

Photos and taking photographs are something we all love. Now a days you do not need to have expensive gear and big knowledge to take photographs but a simple mobile phone with camera would do the trick. The settings are auto adjusted by the phone, unlike DSLR s so you do not need to worry about them either. So, this time I am going to talk about few tips to take a better photograph from the mobile phone or a camera. These are some little things but try them and see how your photos would look better!

1. The rule of thumb- composition

image.png

One of the most important things in photography is composition- how and where the main object of the photo is placed. So, you might think it should be in the middle of the frame but it’s not exactly the case.

When the frame is divided in to similar 9 squares, the 4 intersecting points are the places that one’s eye captured in the very moment when he looks at a picture. So, our objective of the photo should be placed in there. If it’s a portrait or human face, the most important feature of a face is eye, so the eye should be placed in one of those 4 spots.

Sometimes it is hard to place them by the naked eye but with practice and after retouching, this can be developed. And some cameras have an option of showing that grid on the screen, so it is much easier for the photographer to position the object. I hope the example photos would help to understand this tip.

2. Adjusting Diagonal lines to the corner of the frame

image.png

There can be diagonal type lines in any random photo we take, and it can really add dynamic look to the photo or mess the photo up as well. So, if there are such lines, always position them towards the corner of the frame so that messiness would be reduced and add more artistic and neater look.

3. Capturing sea view

We all love the sea, do not ever hesitate to take photo of sea view or a photo in a beach. So let me share few things to have in mind when you click them.

One thing is always making the horizon line horizontal, otherwise it can look very ugly, and most people tend to forget it. And if you take a photo of some one with that horizon in background, do not place his/her head and the horizon line crossed. Because the face/head is the most important body part of the photo and then it is disturbed by that line in background.

Finally, always try to have 2:1 ratio between the beach and the sky. For example, if the main focus should be on the beach, then have the beach for 2/3 of the frame and if it is the sky, make the beach 1/3 and take 2/3 of the frame to the sky. That previously explained grid would be helpful for that.

Initially thought of sharing all tips in one article but as it gets lengthier, hope to share the in another one. You may know some of these tips and sometimes didn’t really care much. Hope you enjoyed the article and hopefully meet with part 2 soon.

I still remember how I blamed one of my friends for telling me my pic looks ugly bcz it was totally against the thumb composition. I didn't even know what it is then. But this post made me feel like I should really be aware of it.

Oh poor friend. hoda karanna gihin banim ahala 😄

I'm also interested in photography.... I learnt new things from this article. Specially I had underestimated about gridlines and after reading this I thought to care about that.
Waiting for the second part 🙊
