The history of the subject began in 2016, when Fonsi wanted to follow the path of Enrique Iglesias and try his luck in urban music. After the end of the second season of The Voice Chile, the singer went to his house in Miami where he began working on the song with Erika Ender, Gabriel Garcia and Daddy Yankee. The song was finally produced by Andrés Torres and Mauricio Rengifo (Dandee) and released on January 12, 2017, as a single on the Universal Music Latino label.
He immediately began to rotate in the radios and managed to reach the first places in Spotify, however, there was still a long way to go. If the rhythm of Despacito was already known throughout Latin America, it was Justin Bieber who managed to expand the popularity of the song to the Anglo market.
However, "not all that glitters is gold" and it has been shown that the success and fame of the song caused Fonsi and Daddy Yankee to distance themselves after months of making happy accounts with tours and presentations at awards such as the Grammys and Billboard.
