- One way of approaching idols was that the polytheists believed in various kinds of eyes in crops and livestock.
Allah Almighty says:
And they said: These are cattle and fields of stone, none may eat of them except those whom He wills, and cattle whose appearance is forbidden, and cattle over which the name of Allah is not mentioned, but they are invented against Him. He will recompense them for what they used to invent. (138-6)
" "And these are the cattle whose backs are forbidden (they cannot be ridden or carried), and some cattle on which they do not mention the name of Allah, inventing a lie against Allah."
- Among these animals were Bahirah, Sa'ibah, Wasilah and Hami. Ibn Ishaq said: Bahirah is the name of Sa'ibah. If she gave birth to ten female calves in succession, without any male in between, such a she-camel was set free, she was not ridden, her hair was not cut.
And no one drank her milk except the guest. After that, the ear of the female camel that gave birth to the calf was cut off, and she was also set free with her mother.
It was not ridden, nor was its hair cut. And no one drank its milk except a guest, this is its bahīrah, and its mother is its saībah.
وَصِيْلَه This goat was called وَصِيْلَه which gave birth to two female children five times in a row (i.e. ten female children were born in five times) without any male being born in between.
This goat was called وَصِيْلَه because it connected all the female children to each other.
After that, only men could eat the children born from this goat, women could not eat them.
However, if a girl was born dead, both men and women could eat her.
