The verse says:
And that which is slaughtered on the pillars (5:3) means: "Even those animals which are slaughtered on the pillars are forbidden."
In another place it says:
And do not eat of that over which the name of Allah has not been mentioned (6:121) means: "Do not eat the flesh of that animal over which the name of Allah has not been mentioned."
- Another way of approaching idols was that the polytheists used to set aside a portion of their food and drink and the produce of their crops and livestock for idols, according to their own discretion. In this regard, their interesting custom was that they used to set aside a portion of their agricultural and animal production for Allah. Then, due to various reasons, they could transfer Allah's portion to idols, but they could not transfer the idols' portion to Allah under any circumstances.
Allah Almighty says:
And they set aside for Allah a portion of what they produce from the fields and the flocks, and they say, "This is for Allah, by their own will, and this is for our partners." But what is for their partners does not reach Allah. And what is for Allah, it reaches their partners. Evil is what they judge. (6:136)
" "Those who have created crops and livestock, they have assigned a portion of it to Allah, and they say, 'This is for Allah and this is for our gods.' Then what belongs to their gods does not reach Allah, and what belongs to Allah reaches their gods. How evil is their judgment." -
