I hope you all are doing well.
The day started as usual with my Fajr prayer and reciting the Quran, a peaceful way to start the morning. After that i helped my sisters get ready for school. It is always a bit hectic in the morning but we managed. Afterward i cleaned the room and slept. I woke up at around 12 pm, feeling refreshed and then gave water to the parrots.
Then i prayed Zuhr and spent a little time reciting some Quranic ayats. It was a calm and spiritual part of the day.
Later in the afternoon, my mother and i decided to go to the market. Why? Tomorrow is my father’s birthday and we wanted to plan something special. We sent my younger sisters to their tuition, keeping everything a secret. After exploring a few shops, we picked out a beautiful kurta shalwar for my father. It felt perfect for him, simple yet elegant, just like his style.
Afterward, we headed to the bakery to buy the cake. With so many cakes to choose from, it was tough to decide but we eventually picked one that looked delicious.
When we got home my younger sisters were still in tuition so we hid the cake in the fridge to keep the surprise intact. We decided not to let the younger ones in on the secret either because, let’s be honest, the last time they ruined the surprise by blurting out, "Papa, we didn’t plan anything for your birthday or buy a gift for you" It gave us all a good laugh but we were not risking it this time.
At around 8 pm, my father arrived home from work and we all sat down for dinner together. We kept things casual, pretending we had not planned anything. No mention of his birthday and we acted as if it was just a normal day. He did not seem suspicious at all.
After dinner my father lay down to rest, exhausted from the long day at work. We patiently waited for midnight, sneaking glances at the clock. Finally when the clock struck 12, we grabbed the cake and gift and woke him up with a big surprise.
He was so happy and touched, though you can clearly see he was still half-asleep in the pictures, smiling sleepily.
He cut the cake and we all celebrated quietly, knowing he would probably fall back asleep soon after. It was such a sweet and heartwarming moment to see him so happy. The effort was worth it.
