Hi everyone. I hope you all are doing well. So today I thought to share an incident that happened with me. First of all, I don’t understand why I always have bad luck with math courses.
Since I joined university, I have made so many mistakes in finals which ruined my exam marks. Well, this semester I had a course called Probability and Statistics. It was a very easy course and I thought finally there is a math course where I will definitely get an A grade.

As the semester passed, I gave my midterm exam and got very good marks, almost full marks. In quizzes, assignments, and projects, I was getting full marks in all, and my overall sessional marks were 60 out of 60. So I was very sure that I would get good marks in finals.

Then the finals came. I gave the exam and there were a few mistakes, but I was 100 percent sure I would get an A. My marks would be in the 90s. Then came the result day. We got a message on our phones about the stats result.

All my friends got A grades, but due to signal issues, I didn’t get the message. Then I thought I would check later because I was sure it’s an A. When I reached the university gate, I got the message, and unexpectedly it was not an A, not even a B plus or B.

It was a straight C plus. My mind went blank because it was impossible. I could never get a C plus. We rushed back to the teacher’s office. I talked to him and told him it’s impossible for me to get a C plus.

If it was a B plus, I would have accepted it, but a C was unbelievable, especially after scoring 60 out of 60 in sessional marks. The teacher was not ready to accept that he might have made a mistake in checking. He showed me the sheet where I had 11 out of 40, which was impossible because I knew my exam and my efforts.

I argued with him till the last moment, but he refused to recheck the result. Then an examiner teacher came. He recognized me and my friends and told the teacher to recheck my result. Finally, the teacher agreed.

He went to the examination department and rechecked, and guess what? It was all his fault. He had forgotten to add two of my marks.

When he added them, my total was 93 marks. I took a breath of relief, thankful that my marks were corrected.

I don’t understand why teachers find it hard to accept that they can make mistakes too. After all, they are human beings.
But when a student points out a mistake, it offends them. As students, we know where we stand in a subject. But anyway, my issue got resolved, and it was such a relief.
