Hello, sweet Steemians of Steem Nations. Today, I am going to talk about books. The benefits of reading books.
I can't exactly remember which class I was in, but there was an article about William Shakespeare in our textbook. I can't even remember who the author was, but I remember what he actually wanted to say about William Shakespeare. When William Shakespeare was alive, the sun was never set in the British Empire. The expedition of the British Empire was that big from north to south, east to west, everything was under British control. At that time, the author wrote that if there was a choice between William Shakespeare and the British crown, he would easily choose William Shakespeare. He explained that William Shakespeare would be immortal; meanwhile, the British Empire could be broken.
He was right. William Shakespeare became immortal, and the British Empire became history. It's the proof of the power of the knowledge. Truly, knowledge is power. What makes William Shakespeare too famous? It's his books, his novels, moreover, his drama. Who in the world has never heard about Romeo and Juliet? Homer, Eliot, Franz Kafka, Albert Camus, or ancient figures like Aristotle, Socrates, Pluto, Ibn Sina, Omar Khayyam, our very own Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Muhammad Iqbal, and on. They become immortal by their work on literacy. Their thought spread to the world through their books.
Reading a book is something like knowing the world. The more you read, the more you know about the world. I have no idea about the Amazon forest. I heard that it is the largest rainforest in the world. Various kinds of species live there. Who are they, how are they? I had no idea until I read Amazonia by James Rollins. There were so many informative things about Amazon. Now I know a little bit about Amazon. If I had never read that book, I may have had the same idea that I had before. I did not know that most of the medicines in the world came from the Amazon forest. This is how books help us. Books can teach us tons of new things.
I started this article by mentioning I don’t remember which class I was in. I didn't know who the author was, but I can remember about William Shakespeare and the British Empire. This is what the book does to us. I remember the main theme of what I read. If you read one page, you know one page. If you read one full book, you know one full book. If you read a lot of books, you know about lots of books. This is how reading books works. I read interviews of the world's most successful people. They said that they often read books more and more. My favorite actor, Shah Rukh Khan, has said various times that he wants to read books, and he usually reads books when he is free. The same thing was said by Priyanka Chopra.
You can figure out how beneficial reading books is when you talk to a literate man and an illiterate man. You will find out how politely a literate man talks. How deep they think, and illiterate one will use some slang when they talk. They are like a blind man in a big space. Just searching for something but never find it. In that case, the book comes as the torch. That's why reading books is always important. That's the light that shows us the right path.
Indeed, the benefits of reading books are immense.
