That's what I have been wondering about for years also how those who understand nothing perfectly well know how to collect.
The newcomers community is a miracle to me as well. Had a look yesterday. Some posts are so perfect and next, they never show up again (if I say or ask something). It took me weeks, months, years to understand certain aspects but what I always did was read, read, read and try to figure out what they were talking about, how they managed.

By the way, I keep asking and sooner or later what I believe turns out to be true. I cannot always bother, especially not if people are honest and say I do this or that (own responsibility) but the never-ending rewards for??? I looked at certain booming rewarded posts and it beats me why those people are rewarded at all since what they write is by far not good or way better than what others write.
I guess if it comes to this you can't expect much from those who nominate/moderate/curate/announce winners and simply don't like to read or are able to recognize creativity or improvement.

It's still the year of the Dragon (good for luck) and it lasts until the end of January so let's go for the miracles or simply use/grab what is in front of you.

If it comes to irony, sarcasm, black humour? I doubt this can be learned or people can be educated to like it. If you never learned to see the humour in the darkness, to make it possible to breathe (laugh), take everything bloody seriously life will be extremely hard and unbearable.
