Hello to all travel lovers! Today I would like to continue my story about my trip to St. Petersburg last August. I have been sharing my impressions with you for the past twenty publications, but there will be more than a dozen of them ahead - so get ready!

The next day after the trip from St. Petersburg to Novgorod, my daughter and I decided to get to the central part of St. Petersburg to find the location of several universities. She is going to enter a higher education institution next year, so our interest was not accidental.

On foot from the Baltic railway station, where we arrived by train directly from the village of Shushary, we had to go along Lermontovsky Prospekt towards the central part of the city. Along the way, I photographed beautiful architecture and now I will tell you a little about those buildings.

Lermontovsky Prospekt is the historical part of the city. There are a lot of houses of ancient, pre-revolutionary buildings here, and since our path crossed the Bypass Canal, the Fontanka River and the Griboyedov Canal, there was something to see - the places here are very picturesque.

There are buildings on the avenue built in the late XIX and early XX centuries. Their architecture is difficult to confuse with something else. These are houses made of red brick and ornate decorative elements. The basis for them was the Byzantine style, characteristic of the buildings of that era. However, there is some pretentiousness in these buildings, apparently the architects did not always have the task to strictly follow the tradition.

I was attracted to another building, probably older in the year of construction - the Tikhanov apartment building. It stands on the corner of the embankment of the Griboyedov Canal and looks directly at the Mogilev Bridge with its facade. The facade itself is made in a classic style, a high arch leads into the courtyard of the house.

After crossing the bridge, we meet the tall spires of the Isidore Church. Here you can admire the view of the embankment, but our path lies further along Lermontovsky Prospekt. My attentive gaze stopped at a beautiful gray building with a rounded corner facade. I didn't find any information about this building, but I took some pictures.

Then we walked slowly towards the central St. Petersburg synagogue, the domes of which soon appeared not far away. But I will tell you about it tomorrow, making a special short report. And that's it for today!

Привет всем любителям путешествий! Сегодня я хотел бы продолжить свой рассказ о поездке в Петербург в прошедшем августе. О своих впечатлениях я делюсь с вами на протяжении вот уже двадцати публикаций, но впереди их будет не один десяток - так что приготовьтесь!

На следующий день после поездки в из Петербурга в Новгород, мы с дочкой решили добраться до центральной части Петербурга, чтобы отыскать местоположение нескольких университетов. Ей в следующем году предстоит поступать в высшее учебное заведение, поэтому наш интерес не был случайным.

Пешком от Балтийского вокзала, куда мы приехали на электричке прямиком из посёлка Шушары, нам предстояло отправиться по Лермонтовскому проспекту в сторону центральной части города. По пути я фотографировал красивую архитектуру и сейчас я немного расскажу о тех зданиях.

Лермонтовский проспект - это историческая часть города. Здесь полно домов старинной, дореволюционной застройки, а так как наш путь пересекал Обводной канал, реку Фонтанку и канал Грибоедова, тут было на что посмотреть - места здесь очень живописные.

На проспекте есть здания, выстроенные в конце XIX, начале XX веков. Их архитекруру трудно спутать с чем-то другим. Это дома из красного кирпича и вычурными декоративными элементами. Основой для них служил византийский стиль, характерный для построек той эпохи. Однако в этих зданиях есть некоторая вычурность, видимо у архитекторов не всегда стояла задача строго следовать традиции.

Меня привлекло другое здание, видимо, более старое по году постройки - доходный дом Тиханова. Он стоит на углу набережной канала Грибоедова и своим фасадом смотрит прямо на Могилёвский мост. Сам фасад сделан в классическом стиле, внутрь двора дома ведёт высокая арка.

Пройдя через мост, мы встречаем высокие шпили Исидоровской церкви. Здесь можно полюбоваться видом на набережную, но наш путь лежит дальше по Лермонтовскому проспекту. Мой внимательный взгляд остановился на красивом сером здании с округлым угловым фасадом. Я не нашёл информации об этом строении, но сделал несколько снимков.

Далее мы неспешно прошли в сторону центральной Петербургской синагоги, купола которой вскоре показались невдалеке. Но о ней я расскажу завтра, сделав специальный короткий репортаж. А на сегодня у меня всё!
