Hello everybody! Today we will finally enter the territory of the Kopor fortress and stroll through its courtyard. To be honest, I didn't expect how much things had changed there since 2011, when I last visited this place in winter.
HELP FROM THE NETWORK: The defensive structure was founded in 1237 by the Knights of the Livonian Order. Then the future cultural heritage site was built in stone. The first mention of the fortress can be found in the Novgorod chronicles of 1240. The outpost had a lot of events, in those years it repeatedly changed its owners. The first capture of the fortress by the Russians dates back to 1241, when Prince Alexander Nevsky recaptured the fortress from the Germans. 39 years later, his son Dmitry Alexandrovich builds a stone city. But it was not destined to stand for long — the Novgorodians themselves destroyed the structure two years later.
First of all, I was surprised by the scaffolding and canopies. There are also a lot of fencing nets here now and a durable wooden deck has been made, along which tourists can walk along the entire length of the fortress courtyard.
I learned from the guidebook that a partial collapse of the ancient masonry occurred here a few years ago, and perhaps that's why appropriate security measures were taken to prevent such incidents from happening again: some of the walls are now covered with thin metal mesh.
It is also now forbidden to walk freely through the ruins, as it used to be. Tourists can no longer get close to the edges of the walls, because from here you can fall from a great height. Since the fortress is located on a natural hill, the height of a possible fall would be fatal.
There is an unusual place right at the entrance, where there used to be something like a temple inside the wall. There are still old granite windows here, and now it's impossible to get inside, although we used to walk freely there and even saw icons with candles. Apparently, this is also related to safety for visitors.
Along the main wooden trail, specially laid for tourists, there are very ancient elms. There's a whole alley of them here. Judging by their appearance, they are hundreds of years old. They make the inside of the fortress shady and cozy, they create a beautiful landscape for this place.
In addition to the picturesque views and ruins that artists love so much, there are ruins of an ancient church. It has been partially restored, but the restoration work is not going as fast as we would like. Tomorrow I will make a separate report about this building, attaching a lot of photos. Привет всем! Сегодня мы пройдём, наконец, на территорию Копорской крепости и прогуляемся по её внутреннему двору. Честно говоря, я и сам не ожидал, как сильно там всё изменилось с 2011 года, когда я в прошлый раз посещал это место зимой.
СПРАВКА ИЗ СЕТИ: Оборонительное сооружение заложили в 1237 году рыцари Ливонского ордена. Тогда будущий объект культурного наследия был построен в камне. Первые упоминания о крепости можно найти в новгородских летописях 1240 года. На долю форпоста выпало немало событий, в те годы он неоднократно менял своих хозяев. Первый захват крепости русскими датируется 1241 годом, когда князь Александр Невский отбил укрепление у немцев. Спустя 39 лет его сын Дмитрий Александрович возводит каменный город. Но ему было не суждено простоять долго — новгородцы сами разрушили сооружение спустя два года.
Прежде всего, меня удивили строительные леса и навесы. Также здесь теперь много ограждающих сеток и сделан прочный деревянный настил, по которому туристы могут пройти по всей длине территории крепостного двора.
Из путеводителя я узнал, что несколько лет назад здесь произошло частичное обрушение старинной кладки и возможно поэтому были приняты соответствующие меры безопасности, чтобы в последствии таких инцидентов не повторялось: часть стен теперь обшиты тонкими металлическими сетками.
Также теперь запрещено свободно прогуливаться по руинам, как это было раньше. Туристы теперь не могут вплотную подходить к краям стен, потому что отсюда можно упасть с большой высоты. Так как крепость расположена на естественном холме, высота возможного падения окажется смертельной.
Сразу при входе есть необычное место, гда раньше было что-то вроде храма внутри стены. Здесь остались старинные гранитные окна, и сейчас внутрь войти не получится, хотя раньше мы свободно проходили туда и даже видели иконы со свечками. Судя по всему - это также связано с безопасностью для посетителей.
Вдоль основной деревянной тропы, специально уложенной для туристов, высятся очень старинные вязы. Их здесь целая аллея. Судя по внешнему виду, им не одна сотня лет. От них внутри крепости тенисто и уютно, они создают красивый пейзаж для этого места.
Кроме живописных видов и развалин, которые так любят художники, здесь есть развалины старинной церкви. Она частично восстановлена, но реставрационные работы идут не тка бустро, как хотелось бы.
