Sport is much more than just a competition between two opponents. Every sport is associated with many emotions and the beautiful game of cricket is no exception. ICC T20 World Cup 2021 has commenced from Sunday amid huge anticipation. Teams and fans have had to wait five long years, but the men's ICC T20 World Cup has returned on Sunday with 16 teams eager to emulate the West Indies who collected the trophy in 2016.

It has all started with the first round, where eight teams are divided into two groups, the best two of which qualify for the Super 12, where they join the eight best teams in the world. The first-round teams include Sri Lanka, which has played and won more matches than any other team in ICC T20 Men's World Cup history, and Bangladesh, the other ever-present among the eight. The other six teams are Scotland, Ireland, Namibia, Papua New Guinea, Netherlands and Oman.
With 12 games in the first six days, the action will be big and fast in deciding which teams will make it to the Super 12, where Group 1 looks like a box office hit with the defending champions, the West Indies, the reigning world champions England and heavyweights from Australia and South Africa. They will be joined by the winners of Group A and the runners-up in Group B.
Meanwhile, in Group 2, the inaugural India will be supported by big rivals Pakistan, whom they will face in the opening match, in addition to New Zealand and Afghanistan, the rising force in T20 cricket, as well as Group B winners and Group A runners-up.

Super 12 action kicks off on October 23 with Australia v South Africa, one of the sport's iconic rivalries, followed by a day and night match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium between England and the West Indies, a replay of the end of 2016 when Carlos Brathwaite was announced to the world.
The experienced Windies team includes three players who participated in the first T20 World Cup, Universe boss Chris Gayle, as well as all-rounder Dwayne Bravo and speedy bowler Ravi Rampaul.
These are three of the seven players who also appeared in the first edition. The other four are Bangladeshi duo Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim, Pakistani all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez and Indian starter Rohit Sharma.
All of these players could have a huge impact on the bottom line, but as Brathwaite demonstrated with 34 out of 10 installments in 2016, rookies can become heroes too.

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR IN THIS WORLD CUP

There are numerous players who are playing their maiden World Cup so there are many many exciting players to watch out for. Here’s my list to whom I’m looking forward to most :

1. BABAR AZAM :

All-format Pakistan’s skipper has made a great impact on the cricketing world with his class and consistency. He made his debut in T20I on 16 September 2016 against England but unfortunately due to long 5-year gap between the 2 World cups, he couldn’t play this mega event. He’s fastest batsman to cross 2000 T20I runs. He’s ranked second in the rankings for batsman in this shorter format just behind Dawid Malan.

2. TABRAIZ SHAMSI :

Left arm unorthodox spinner from South Africa is another player to watch out for. Shamsi, the number one ranked bowler in the men's T20I Player Rankings, could be particularly influential on the turning wickets in the UAE and Oman as he tries to help South Africa reach the semi-finals for the third time.

3. KL RAHUL :

Rahul made his debut in June 2016. He was dismissed for a golden duck in his debut match and became the first Indian batsman to get out first ball for zero in a T20I match. The hard hitter from India has broken many records and has the potential of being a match winner on his day.

4. LOCKIE FERGUSON :

A right arm quick kiwi is another player to watch out for in this WC. With his sheer pace and ability to pick wickets in the middle-overs has made him one of the exciting players to watch out for.

5. HASAN ALI :

Right arm medium fast Pakistani bowler made his debut against England at Manchestar in the year 2016. Energetic Hasan Ali has introduced himself to the world with his great performances. Again his ability to take wickets in the middle over and accuracy has made him one of the finest bowler in this format of the game.

There’s a long long list of more exciting talents who are heading towards their maiden WC compaign. If you guys want me to discuss about them all, please do let me know. Surely I’ll post my next review article on this.
By November 10, it will be down to just four teams, with the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi playing host to the first semi-final, while the Dubai International Cricket Stadium hosts the second as well the final on November 14.

In the last six editions of the tournament, a trio of teams reached the semifinals on four occasions. Pakistan did this in the first four editions, while Sri Lanka did it four times in a row between 2009 and 2014. The other side that has done it is the West Indies, which is the only team to have won the tournament more than once.
Australia has the best record of any team that did not win the competition, with three semi-finals and a runner-up in 2010, defeated by England in the final.

So that’s it for this. I hope you all will like this and please do let me know for more review posts as its all about passion!
