Assalam o Alaikum I hope that all of you are doing great, today I will be sharing my day with you all and writing my diary about the coding competition I participated in.

Morning

My day started at 7:30 am when my alarm rang, the sky was vibrant with sun spreading rays all over creating a yellow blue gradient at the new dawn. I was feeling a little sleepy reason being that I was up late at night preparing myself for a coding competition by solving questions on HackerRank. I changed clothes, had a cup of tea with a sandwich, put on my shoes, and left for university.

I took a DSA lecture as my first class, the competition was scheduled at 10 am. Class ended at 9:20 am, the next teacher came and we left the class, we waited outside till 9:50 am preparing ourselves mentally to go in.

Afternoon

At 10 am we went towards the lab where the competition was organized. There were also other teams from different universities we were going to compete against.

We were all ready and sat at our place, we were a little anxious as it was our first competition at any level. We turned on the computer and connected to the link provided for the competition. It was a 2-hour long test consisting of 9 questions.
There was no restriction of programming language, many teams were using C++, C#, JS but we used python for coding.

Questions were very difficult, they were harder than we imagined. Though our team was really good at programming. Out of 9 questions, we hardly solved 3-4 questions right.

Outside the lab, our friends were waiting for us to cheer us up. Everyone asked how it went, I jokingly said "Yes we got a "چیک". We really got the چیک and that چیک was a reality check after that competition, I used to think that I have cracked python and pretty much covered everything but the reality was different.

Since it was Friday so we had to offer prayer, I left for home, then prayed Jumma.

Evening

After I came home I was a little disappointed by my performance so to take some rest I went to sleep. Then woke up at 6 pm. My sister made some delicious spaghetti for tea-time.

Then I showed my family the certification I got for participation, they were happy and encouraged me to take part in more coding competitions so I get the idea of the difficulty of problem-solving at the upper level.

Night

I took some lectures on graphic designing and played Valorant with my friends to have a fun time after a tiring day.
Then I read a book before going to bed. I was reading "Meditations" by "Marcus Aurelius", the book is in the classics and its author is one of the pioneers of "Stoicism".

Then I went to bed and fall asleep.

I want to end this diary with a quote from Marcus Aurelius.

The quality of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.

It was a good day, although I did not win the competition it gave me the idea of my shortcomings and that I need to improve a lot. Its true that the more we learn, the more we realize that we don't know anything.
