hey all bookworms, so as i postef many book and movie reviews earlier so here i come again after a long with this amazing book
PUBLISHER: STRIPES
AUTHOR: EMMA YOUNG
BOOK TITLE: SHE MYSELF & I
ABOUT BOOK:
The book is about a girl named Rosa, who’s suffering from an incurable nervous damage. She relies on her older and much more confident brother, Elliot, who stands with her through thick and thin. A friend of Rosa’s mother, also a renowned surgeon, decides to take Rosa as a test subject for the first ever brain transplant. It’s the only shot Rosa has at life, as her body is failing her. She and her family agree to the surgery and her brain is transplanted successfully into the body of a 16 year old, olive skinned, beautiful girl, Sylvia, who has been in a coma for quite some time. Feeling really insecure and unsure whether it’s actually her or Sylvia there, she embarks on a journey with a handsome journalist, Joe. In the end, Rosa finds peace and discovers self-love. But the real deal is Rosa thinks she’s a freak, like Frankenstein and falls in love with Joe. She remains insecure and sceptical on whether to tell Joe who she really is and that this is not her original form. Will Joe still love her? And get this, Rosa’s transplant must remain a secret until the doctors are ready to disclose it. Especially to journalists.
FAVORITE CHARACTER:
My favourite character was Joe, Rosa’s boyfriend. Who despite all odds, loved Rosa before she even loved herself. Even when Rosa considered herself a freak, he held her tighter, closer to him. It wasn’t always romantic gestures, him being there for her at difficult sides, him refusing to leave her side, him being able to make her laugh only like Elliot does made him the perfect man. Even though he’s also not all perfect, he had some traumas that gave him a cold demeanour. But his handsome looks, wits and the way he loves overshadows all the little imperfections he has.
I LIKE THIS BOOK BECAUSE:
This book is a journey of a girl’s discovery of her true identity, filled with unsure paths, uncertainties, questionable actions, the bonds we share with people and how they are put to the test. This book was close to reality when depicting relationships and feelings even though the plot was fictional. Every character is shown having some flaws but the author still managed to make us love them all.
YOU SHOULD READ THIS BOOK BECAUSE:
You should read this book because it depicts the journey of self discovery, and shows that how important self love is. It is mentally really draining to suffer from a disease that renders you disabled and to be transferred to a completely new body is even more mentally draining and emotionally exhausting. But if you have the right people by your side and trust your heart, you’ll find a way to inner contentment.
