Aslamo Alikum everyone. I hope you all are good and learning the new things everyday on this amazing platform. I am fine too. Today, i am going to talk about how to keep our steemit keys and password secure. So let's start

The steemit is a decentralized platform. The decentralized nature of this network make it secure and transparent. We can see the everyone's activities on this platform without any limitation. All the posts which are poste by the participants are readable. But no one can access your personal information. There is no any third party or middle man to access your wallet and to control your account. The people feel more secure and no one can access your account without having the keys and password.

But as this platform is decentralized, so if you lost your keys, you will lose your account forever. There is no way to recover the password on the decentralized platform. Tere is no central authority in such platforms to help you in recovering your password. So you should keep the backup of all your keys very carefully.

In centralized platform(like instagram), we know that there is a central authority who is managing whole network. They run the application according to their own rules and regulation, all the users have to follow their rules. But one good point about the centralized platforms is here you can recover your password every time when you lost it. The middle man help you to recover your password and you can get your account back easily. But still you should be careful about keeping the backup of your password.

But on decentralized platform(like steemit), there is no middle man, so in case of losing your password, you will lose your account forever. So i prefer to keep the backup of all my keys on multiple places. I cannot take risk of losing my password(not just steemit, but all my account on all the platform).

How I keep Backup of my keys

I have accounts on multiple platforms(some are centralized and some are decentralized). I am very careful about the backup of all my passwords. I do not rely a single backup. I always have multiple backups of all my accounts whether it's Instagram, Steemit Gmail, twitter, etc. I do not trust on keeping the backup of the passwords online. This way do not satisfy me. So i always keep the backup offline. Many people keep their password in the google drive. But i think that is still hack able. So you shouldn't keep your password ever online .

(1) USB to save all my passwords

I have a USB where i store all my password. I keep the backup of all my account's password in that USB. I have keep that USB very carefully and do not let anyone to use it. I also do not use that USB for any other purpose.

(2) Folder

I have a Folder on my laptop where all my passwords are stored. I have made a file of all the password and keep that hidden in my laptop. I have placed that folder so private in my laptop that no one can access it. This is a way to keep the offline backup of your password. No threat of being hacked.

(3) A separate register

The most satisfying and reliable way for me to keep the backup of my passwords is noting them down on a register. I Note my password of the accounts there and keep that password in my draw. But i have not noted my password in a straight way. If in some case, my register get accessible by some person, he would not be able to get my password because i have encrypted it according to my own.

(4)Memorize your passwords

I think the memorizing the password is also good. But this is also become hard in case when the password is given to you in form of the key store files. Such keys are combination of the alphabet, digits and the special symbols like commas, double quotes, dollar sign, etc. So in such cases, it become hard for you to memorize the password.

For example, if password is key file store, mean in the following form, then i is very hard for the person to memorize it.

So always keep your password backup offline. Wrote them on your register, store them in your USB, in private folder, etc. But i prefer to take screen short of such passwords because if i write that password on the register and i mistakenly miss any sign, the i won't be able to access my account using that password because that is not correct password. I i take screen short, store that in my password folder and USB too.
